BRICS countries agree to focus on employment generation,

BRICS countries have agreed to focus on employment generation, formalization of labour markets and social protection. The five nation grouping comprising Brazil,Russia,India,China and South Africa have decided to have bi-lateral social security agreements amongst them and work towards developing a general framework for cooperation.

Labour and Employment Minister Bandaru Dattatreya told this to media after the meeting of two-day BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi.

He said, during the meeting a declaration was adopted in which BRICS nation have decided to set up labour research and training institutions for undertaking joint research and capacity building.

Mr Dattatreya said, BRICS have reaffirmed their commitment to continue to promote employment and decent work for all with a view to end poverty by 2030. They also resolved to improve employability of workforce through modernization of skill development systems.

Mr Dattatreya also said, the NDA government’s priority is to create more jobs in the country. The Minister said, one thousand crore rupees have been allocated under Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Protsahan Yojana for creating ten lakh jobs.
