Mandala Dialogue is an initiative of the Nehru Memorial Museum Library to initiate a dialogue with experts and young scholars to actively engage on the emerging geo-political issues of contemporary relevance, particularly relating to India’s Neighbourhood Policy on different aspects of our relationships—trade, investment, security, culture, geo-strategy etc.

US: Chabahar port project exempted

US says Chabahar port project won't be impacted by sanctions on Iran. A State Department official said that the Chabahar port project, being developed by India in Iran, will not be impacted by US President Donald Trump's decision not to renew exemptions that let eight countries including India to buy Iranian oil without facing American sanctions.

The exception for reconstruction assistance and economic development for Afghanistan, which includes the development and operation of Chabahar Port, is a separate exception, a State Department Spokesperson said.

6.3-magnitude quake hits Tibet

A 6.3-magnitude earthquake jolted Tibet's Medog County in Nyingchi City today, said China Earthquake Networks Center. The epicentre, with a depth of 10 km, was monitored at 28.40 degrees north latitude and 94.61 degrees east longitude. Media reports said tremors were felt in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, at 4:15 a.m. local time.

More than 50 feared killed in landslide at Myanmar jade mine

Reuters
More than 50 people are feared killed in a landslide near a jade mine in Kachin province of Northern Myanmar. The landslide created a mud-lake which buried the sleeping miners as well as 40 vehicles.  Ministry of Information of Myanmar confirmed that more than 50 people are missing and there is no hope of their survival in the accident.

Several fatal landslides have been caused by unregulated jade mining. In 2015, more than 100 people were killed in a mine collapse in this area. Jade mining is estimated to be worth more than 31 billion dollars. The illegal jade mining is a source of financing insurgency in the area situated on the border of Myanmar, China and India.
Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement on the Pakistani soil being used by terrorists, made during his recent visit to Iran, was taken out of context, a spokesperson from the Prime Minister House said on Wednesday.
"There has been a lot of debate about PM’s statement on the use of Pakistan soil. The statement has been largely taken out of context. PM Imran Khan was talking about non-state actors using Pakistani soil under foreign influence to carry out activities in Pakistan or coordinating from Pakistan," the spokesperson clarified following criticism by some politicians from the opposition over the premier’s remarks.
"Case in point is Kulbhushan Jadhav/alike and local facilitators. In the same manner, Pakistan is attacked using soil of Iran and Afghanistan. The same was clearly stated by the PM during his visit to Iran while referring to the latest incident in Balochistan. This is why the PM is making all out efforts for peace across whole region.
"PM’s statement being linked to any other context is an effort to misinterpret the expression which doesn’t serve Pakistan in any way," the spokesperson added.
Prime Minister Imran, during his maiden official visit to Iran on Monday, had resolved “not to allow any militant group to operate from Pakistan’s soil.”
"We have been facing [impact] of terrorism since long. In Pakistan, we have suffered more terrorism than probably any other country. In the past [few years] we have lost around 70,000 people. Full appreciation must be made for our security agencies, with the way they tackled terrorism in Pakistan," the premier had said in a press conference in Tehran.
"We are committed to not let it happen again. We will not allow any militant group to operate from our soil. We will not allow our soil to be used by anyone against anyone,” he had added.
Agriculture Extension Yield GAP Between USA, India & States
April23, 2019 (C) Ravinder Singh ravindersinvent@gmail.com

Primary objective of ‘Agriculture Extension’ is to ensure that Indian Farmers get best of the world ‘Agriculture Skills and Inputs’ to get world’s best Crop Yields. There is huge yield gap between World’s Best Country Average and India Average and between India’s Best and India’s Worst.

Very high ‘TEN FOLD  YIELD GAP’ indicates Gross Failure of Agriculture Extension Service in India. World’s Highest STUNTED & WASTED Children or Half of the World.

When average yield of Corn in USA is 10,572 kg per hectare, peak in some regions 15,000 kg, India Maize yield is 2664 kgand some Indian states just 1564 kg for Rajasthan. Similarly USA groundnut yield is 4442 kg, best in USA around 6000 kg, India yield 1425 kg and 624 kg in Karnataka.

As per latest Agriculture Statistics – 10 Cr Farm Holdings or 50 Cr Farmers in India have no Bank Credit service, 4 Cr Farm Holdings or 20 Cr Farmers use no FERTILIZER12 Cr Farm Holdings or 60 Cr Farmers have no Canal Irrigation.

Upto 1966 or first 20 years after Independence FARMING WAS PRIMITIVE – Low Yield Seeds, Minimum Pesticide Use in spite of Locust Attacks, Persian Wheels for IrrigationAnimal Power Ploughing and Manual Harvesting.

MS Swanimathan imported HY RED WHEAT from Mexico in 1966which had TRIPLE Yield in Irrigated and Fertilized Farms but Red Wheat didn’t suit Indian preference for White Bread or Roti. 18,000 Tones of Wheat Seeds were not CLEANED and Processing – brought with it ALIEN WEEDS. It was years of Local Breading to IMPROVE COLOR/TASTE.

2007-2012 – States Reporting Highest MILK PRODUCTION also report substantial growth in Live Stock Numbers. ‘Livestock population has increased substantially in Gujarat (15.36%), Uttar Pradesh (14.01%), Assam (10.77%), Punjab (9.57%) Bihar (8.56%); Sikkim (7.96%), Meghalaya (7.41%), and Chhattisgarh (4.34%)’.

Out of 300m Cattle & Buffalo approx. only 80m Are in MILK – only about 27% Yield Milk. Only 20m are Exotic/Cross Bred Cows i.e. JUST 6% of Bovine Population.

Other issues were already covered in my 5 Chapter report – pdf attached.
