Baba Ramdev sat on 'satygraha' along with his supporters and disciples at 'yagyashala' of his Patanjali Yogpeeth late last night, yogpeeth sources said today. The yoga guru, who was bundled out of the national capital after police crackdown on his followers, tried to resume his satyagrah in Noida yesterday but was not allowed to enter Uttar Pradesh. He was stopped on the
border of Muzaffarnagar district at Bhuraheri police check post where the administrative officials asked him to return to Uttarakhand.Later, Baba returned to Patanjali Yogpeeth last night and began his fast.

Government spokesperson on Sunday justified police action to end Ramdev's agitation saying the Yoga Guru had violated the undertaking for permission and had even backed out on his assurances.Union Minister Kapil Sibal, explained that there were apprehensions about law and order situation in Delhi as Ramdev had collected 50,000 people for "political aasan" (manoeuver) although he had sought permission for a yoga camp for a gathering of 5,000 only. "It was not a Yoga platform, but a political platform. The law and order had to be enforced in Delhi. We did not want any disruptions in that," he told reporters. To a question, he said the party and the government were united on the police action."Absolutely 100 per cent. No such action takes place without 100 per cent unity in the government and the party," the minister said.He rejected BJP's allegations that the crackdown was reminiscent of Emergency. Sibal alleged that Ramdev was in league with the RSS as he referred to the presence of Sadvi Ritambhara in his protest. Speaking in the same vein Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahay said that discussions were being held with Ram Dev for more than 20 days and the government's intentions were clear on tackling the issue of corruption and black money. The Union Minister Kail Sibal said Ramdev was not a trustworthy person as he had "cheated" the government and also his followers."He reached an agreement with the government but did not tell it to his followers," Sibal said.He said government and Ramdev had reached an understanding as per which the Yoga Guru was supposed to announce calling off his strike by Saturday afternoon, but he did not honour the commitment."Despite assurances he did not make the announcement. We were in touch with him over phone. We waited till 5 pm. When he did not give statement we decided to go to press. We told him that," Sibal explained, referring to making public the letter written by one of his close associate. "If he backs out, how will we trust him," the Minister questioned.Congress leader Digvijay Singh justified the action against Baba Ram Dev. Mr. Singh accused him of inciting people despite striking a deal with the government for ending his protest. Mr. Singh also demanded an inquiry into the thousands of crores of rupees of property owned by Ram Dev. Senior party leaders held a high level meeting sunday evening at the residence of party president Mrs. Sonia Gandhi.Briefing reporters after the meeting, party spokesperson, Mr. Janardan Dwivedi said in New Delhi that the party discussed the current situation and decided to direct all the party workers to make people aware about the works done by central and party led state governments for people's benefit, so that the strategy of opposition parties could be foiled.

Section 144 of CRPC in New Delhi district:

In an effort to pre-empt any protest by supporters of Baba Ramdev, Delhi Police on Sunday imposed prohibitory orders in New Delhi district where such agitations were apprehended."We have imposed section 144 of CRPC in New Delhi district," a senior police official said. The decision to impose prohibitory orders came in the backdrop of some followers of Ramdev camping at Jantar Mantar after they were ousted from the Ramlila Maidan where their congregation was disrupted by a mid-night police action. The official said police anticipated protest at India Gate, Boat Club or Jantar Mantar, places which fall in New Delhi district. With talks breaking down, police swooped down on Baba Ramdev a little past midnight and detained him after firing tear gas shells and resorting to lathicharge on his supporters. The dramatic police action came after government and the 46-year-old Yoga Guru had accused each other the previous night of betrayal on mutual assurances.
