National Forum on Tuberculosis,The event will be held at the Dome, Vivanta by Taj – Ambassador Hotel on Wednesday, May 8th 2013.Chief Guest Ms. Shiela Dikshit, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Delhi will be present to pledge support for the Forum launch.The launch will be graced by the presence of Guests of Honour, Shri AH Khan, Hon’ble Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and Smt. Deepa Dasmuni, Hon’ble Minister of State for Urban Development.
Tuberculosis is a disease with devastating social and economic costs. Though preventable and completely curable, TB continues to kill 1 person every 2 minutes every day in India. The proposed forum on TB hopes to bring together a diverse set of representatives who will work to highlight issues around TB in India. The focus of the National Public Policy Forum on TB will be to introduce measures to protect the vulnerable, who succumb to this preventable disease.
The Convenor of the Forum is Mr. Dalbir Singh, Head of Dept., All India Congress Committee. Under the leadership of the convener there will be regular meetings organised to discuss key issues facing TB control in India. The Forum on TB will include members, who will come together to highlight and effectively address the public health challenge that TB poses. As policymakers, members of this forum will be in a powerful position to highlight key issues in TB control at the national and state level as well as advocate for change. They will be spokespersons for TB control both within the parliament and public.
The forum will highlight and address issues related to the below mentioned:
· Drug Resistant TB
· TB Diagnostics
· Private Sector
· Over the Counter Drugs
· Patient Rights for Enhanced TB Control
