New Delhi, 10th July 2013: With the launch of its own road cycling team, Team Trek Firefox, Firefox Bikes has made it to be the first ever Indian company to launch such team in the country. The team is the culmination of a lot of hard work and skilled young experts from all across India. The composition of team, which was unveiled on Wednesday, will not only boost the biking enthusiasts with the world class cycling training from some of the finest coaches from across the globe but also provide them with the chance to showcase their skills through various racing experiences.

Team Trek Firefox is the real mixture of experience and up-and-coming talent. All the 8 cyclists have participated at national levels and have been selected from over 200 applications through a rigorous selection process. The team will be mentored by Srinath Rajam, Level 3 ABCC (Association of British Cycling Coaches) and backed by world class coaching company – Peaks Coaching Group.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Shiv Inder Singh, Managing Director, Firefox Bikes said, “It’s our attempt to work with India’s best young cyclists and majority of them aged between 17 to 21 years. The key feature of Team Trek Firefox is the use of sophisticated electronic measuring devices to monitor & constantly improve the power, strength & output of the cyclist.

“Team Trek Firefox is seeking to redefine coaching/ training methods in India from mindless endurance training to developing the peak power output of the athlete,” Mr. Singh added”.

Mr. Singh further added, “Firefox Bikes has been a key factor in the development of competitive cycling in the country. The team consists of eight members from different parts of the country like Delhi, Chennai, Meerut, Hyderabad, Rajasthan, Bangalore and Bihar.”

The elite team is the result of passion, vision, ambition and fully-fitted on with power. The aim behind the launch is to develop the professional cycling scene in India, and giving the country’s cycling talent a chance to interact and get training from the best coaches globally.

Mr. Srinath Rajam, Team Director and Coach said, “We aim to provide India’s best young cyclists a platform to further progress their national and international careers by giving them cutting edge cycling training and racing experiences backed by world class coaches.”

Mr. Srinath further added, “It would be an appropriate platform for the young enthusiasts to excel themselves, as team will provide right environment, equipments, training sessions and complete holistic approach for becoming best cyclists. We intend to compete across India once a month in road races, time trials and in the future also in Cyclocross, track and cycle speedway.”

Onkar Singh, Hony. Secretary General, Cycling Federation of India said, “I congratulate Firefox Bikes for creating a new cycling culture in India. Firefox Bikes has taken an effective initiative and we would focus on the young cyclists as they have lot of potential and we want them to stay with us for next 5-10 years. Cycling Federation of India is also into opening up a training club in New Delhi. We hope to achieve superior result in future as it will provide multi-level approach for cycling.”

Firefox Bikes is planning to widen the eligibility criteria by introducing the next set of age group, providing the young enthusiasts a chance to apply and get hands on experience from the best.

Analysis of sitting MPs and MLAs with self declared Criminal Cases- Election Wise

Following are the salient features that emerge from the analysis carried out by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch (NEW):-
·         A total of 4807 sitting MPs and MLAs have been analyzed by ADR and NEW. A total of 1460 out of these 4807 (30%) sitting MPs and MLAs have declared criminal cases against themselves in their self sworn affidavits submitted by them to the Election Commission of India prior to contesting elections. 688 (14%) out of the total number of sitting MPs and MLAs analyzed have declared serious criminal cases against themselves.
·         162 (30%) out of the 543 Lok Sabha MPs have declared criminal cases against themselves. 14% of the current Lok Sabha MPs have declared serious criminal cases against themselves.
·         1258 (31%) out of the 4032 sitting MLAs from all state assemblies have declared criminal cases against themselves. 15% of the current MLAs from all state assemblies have declared serious criminal cases against themselves.
·         The Jharkhand 2009 Assembly has the highest percentage of elected representatives (74%) who declared criminal cases against themselves.  55 out of 74 MLAs of the Jharkhand 2009 Assembly declared criminal cases against themselves.
·         Among the recent elections that have been covered by ADR and NEW, the Bihar 2010 Assembly has 58% MLAs who have declared criminal cases against themselves. The Uttar Pradesh 2012 Assembly has 47% MLAs with criminal cases.
·         None of the MLAs of the Manipur 2012 Assembly have declared criminal cases against themselves.

Analysis of sitting MPs and MLAs with self declared Criminal Cases- Party Wise

Following are the salient points that emerge from the analysis that was conducted by ADR and NEW:
·         82% of MPs and MLAs who have gotten elected on JMM tickets have declared criminal cases against themselves. 64% of MPs and MLAs who have gotten elected on RJD tickets have declared criminal cases against themselves. 48% of elected representatives who have gotten elected on SP tickets have declared criminal cases against themselves.
·         31% of MPs and MLAs who have gotten elected on BJP tickets have declared criminal cases against themselves (Out of the 1017 MPs and MLAs from BJP, 313 have declared criminal cases). 21% of MPs and MLAs who have gotten elected on INC tickets have declared criminal cases against themselves (Out of the 1433 elected representatives from INC, 305 have declared criminal cases against themselves).
