Dear Friends,
Thousands of oustees of the Omkareshwar, Masheshwar, Indira Sagar, Maan and Upper Beda dams in the Narmada valley in Madhya Pradesh, struggling for their survival and human rights, under the aeigis of the Narmada Bachao Andolan for last two decades have decided to extend their full support to and join the Aam Admi Party.
There has been a continuous dialogue between people’s organisations and the AAP since its inception. As the AAP has emerged as a very significant political alternative for the ordinary people of this country, many organisations have expressed their interest in supporting AAP. The Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) has now taken a decision in this matter.

The Narmada Bachao Andolan and Aam Admi Party are holding  a joint press conferencein this contest on 13th January, 2014 at 4.30 p.m. Indian Women’s Press Corps (Address: 5, Windsor Place, Ashoka Road, 5, Windsor Pl, New Delhi, DL 110001). The press conference will be addressed by AAP leader and renowned Lawyer Shri Prashant Bhushan, Narmada Bachao Andolan leader Shri Alok Agarwal and  AAP activist Shri Pankaj Pushkar.

WHERE TO APPLY
The jurisdiction of the Consular Section of the Embassy of Portugal in New Delhi covers all India (except the States of Maharashtra and Goa and the Union Territories of Daman, Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli) for short and long term visa.
 
The residents of the States of Maharashtra and Goa and the Union Territories of Daman, Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli have to apply at VFS Mumbai Visa Application Centre.
 
The long-term national visa (vg. research, study, work and family) for residents of Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka have to be submitted to the Embassy of Portugal in New Delhi.

Turismo de Portugal recently concluded a FAM trip for select travel agents from India. Representatives from IN TIME Travels, Ashoka Dream Holidays,
SSR Holidays, Kavita Bhagat, Wellcome Tours, Varun Worldwide Vacations, Tour Organiser and Regal Voyages were a part of the Portugal Tourism trip.
 
The aim of the FAM Trip was to showcase various tourism facets of Portugal to the travel agents. This, in turn, would help to raise awareness about the destination and increase the number of Indians visiting Portugal for business and pleasure.

SHORT TERM VISA
 
If you are planning a short visit to Portugal and you do not have Portugal nationality, you may need to apply for a Schengen visa. Portugal is one of the 26 European countries forming the Schengen Area which have no border controls between them. These countries also issue a common visa, the Schengen visa for the stay upto 90 days.

Business visa application is applicable in case you are travelling for business purposes. This visa is given for travel period of less than 90 days
 
VISIT TO FAMILY & FRIENDS
Visit to family or friend visa application is applicable in case you are travelling for visiting your family member or friend. This visa is given for travel period of less than 90 days.
 
TRANSIT VISA (SEAMEN)
Applicants for a seaman’s visa must be employed in any capacity on board a vessel, and seeking to enter Portugal solely in pursuit of his/her calling as a seaman, with the intention of departing with the vessel or reshipping on other vessel that is bound for a foreign port or place or one coming to the Portugal to join a vessel in this country.
 
LONG TERM VISA
 
Visas for visits exceeding three months, whether for study, training, working or residence, shall be national visas issued by Portuguese Embassy in accordance with its national legislation. These types of visas are only valid for the national territory of the concerned country.
 
Scientific Research: Scientific Research visa application is applicable in case you are travelling for research purpose. Applicants applying under this category do not require paying Visa fee.
 
Study/Training: Applicants travelling for study purpose or training purpose has to apply under this category.

VISA APPLICATION PROCESS
Application procedure
The VFS Portugal Visa Application Centres will accept visa applications from all nationals, who wish to travel to Portugal. VFS will submit all such visa applications to The Embassy of Portugal located in New Delhi and The Consulate of Portugal in Goa.
 
Step 1 Applications for Portuguese visa are accepted at the VFS visa application centre
Step 2 Before applying, please ensure you are very clear on your ‘purpose of visit’ – do remember we are here to assist and help you through the entire visa application process but are not permitted to advise or guide you on choosing a visa category. Since our work is primarily administrative in nature, we have no say on whether you will be granted a visa and how long it will take to process, as this is entirely the prerogative of The Embassy of Portugal.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO AGENTS
Please keep in mind that all applications should be handed in minimum 10 working days ahead of the intended travel date, unless extraordinary circumstances are demonstrated and approved by the Embassy. Failure to comply with the application procedures will be met by a warning. Repeated misconduct may result in cancellation of an agent’s authorization.
 
Note: In case of travel to more than one Schengen country, please submit your application to the Embassy / Consulate where you will be staying for the maximum number of days. In case of equal stay, one has to apply at the Schengen country which is the first port of entry.
 
ADDITIONAL SERVICES
Courier Service
In case you would like your passport couriered to your specified address, you can request this facility at the time of submitting your application. This optional service is available for an additional fee of Rs 335/- (inclusive of Service tax).

BY CAR
Portugal has a good road network composed of Motorways (AE), Main Trunk Routes (IP), Complementary Trunk Routes (IC), Main (National) Roads (EN) and Secondary (Municipal) Roads.
 
There are car rental services at airports, international rail terminuses and in the main towns and cities. Drivers with mobility difficulties, or anyone who prefers to, can rent automatic or adapted vehicles.
 
BY COACH
You can get to Portugal by coach. Eurolines (www.eurolines.fr) and Intercentro (www.internorte.pt) both operate international routes to and from Portugal.
