We are pleased to inform you that the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organizing a Workshop on Sexual Harassment at Workplace - Creating Safe & Secure Workplace on 5 August 2016 (Friday) from 0930-1700 hrs in New Delhi.
Background: Sexual harassment is a serious manifestation of sex discrimination at the workplace and a violation of human rights. It undermines equality, calling into question the integrity, dignity and physical and psychological well-being of workers. At the same time, enterprises are being damaged by destroyed work relationships impacting negatively on productivity. Sexual Harassment at workplace is a violation of women’s right to gender equality, life and liberty. It creates an insecure and hostile work environment, which discourages women’s participation in work, thereby adversely affecting their economic empowerment and the goal of inclusive growth.
About the Workshop: This interactive workshop will cover a detailed overview of what sexual harassment is, explains legal definitions, discusses sexual harassment prevention, and shows how to handle sexual harassment complaints and maintain a positive work environment. Participants will learn to identify, take action and distinguish potential sexual harassment issues before they occur. This Sexual Harassment Workshop will be highly participatory seminar and focuses directly on improving skills to handle any sexual harassment issue or complaint with greater confidence.
This workshop will attempt to help participants understand Sexual Harassment and its complexities, the benefits of a harassment free workplace and how to create such an environment, how to deal with instances of sexual harassment sensitively and sensibly and legal obligations under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act.
Methodology:
This full day workshop will be a combination of interactive role playing, mock investigation practice, case studies, lecture, and group discussion to help you develop and/or hone all your investigation skills. Using case studies, practical examples, and discussion, this workshop will enable you to understand an overview of the sexual harassment laws.
Participants will practice issue-spotting, Role Plays & Case Studies, interview documentation, and strategies for handling all common, yet difficult, investigation issues.

The workshop will be followed by a “question-and-answer” session with speakers who will discuss and debate on the perceptions and realities of workplace harassment, encompassing stalking & sexual harassment, online harassment, bullying and other forms of abuse.
Faculty 1 : Ms Talish Ray is a managing partner with TRS Law Offices. An alumnus of La Martiniere Girls College and Lady Shri Ram College she got her degree in Law from Delhi University. Trained as a lawyer in one of India's premier law firms she has traveled around the world interacting and gaining experience in working with young entrepreneurs and corporate houses. She has appeared before the Supreme Court of India as well as the various High Courts around the country. Besides being an empaneled lawyer for various State Bodies she is also Board Member with reputed companies and not for profit entities. She has lectured widely on issues of Internet Governance, IP rights, environment, corporate compliance and risk mitigation and conducts training workshop for the various stakeholders in these fields.
Faculty 2 : Ms Sunieta Ojha has over a decade of experience as a lawyer and is managing TRS litigation practice for individual & corporate clients covering Commercial, Corporate and Family Law matters and involving appearance and arguments at Courts & Tribunals in Delhi & NCR. She has done her Bachelors and Masters from Miranda House College and LLB from Campus Law College, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. She has been awarded Packard Fellowship by International Institute of Education, San Francisco, USA, for her work on promotion of Human Rights of Woman and Children. She has handled disputes across various foras including Supreme Court, High Courts, other civil and criminal courts, Tribunals and Appellate authorities.
