But one look at his past before he became the all-powerful IPL Chairman and Commissioner is enough to know that Modi led an eventful life.BCCI's top brass is holding hectic consultations ahead of the crucial IPL Governing Council meeting on Monday to decide the fate of IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi. There is intense speculation that Modi is set to be sacked in the meeting as council members and the BCCI are upset with the income tax mess that the IPL finds itself.

The cricket board held yet another round of discussions in Mumbai on Sunday in which BCCI President Shashank Manohar, secretary N Srinivasan, Chief Administrative Officer Ratnakar Shetty and IPL vice-chairman Niranjan Shah participated. This is the second meeting of the board since Saturday.

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was also briefed by the Vice president Rajiv Shukla on the alleged scam earlier this week. An internecine war broke out in the Indian cricket board as its chief Shashank Manohar and vice-president Modi haggled over the date of the Governing Council meeting, even as income-tax officials continued searches of offices and interrogation of the franchisees in various cities.

Lalit Modi has accused his chief and other members of the Governing Council of preventing him from disclosing the stake holdings of all the eight franchisees on the plea that it would lead to legal complications.The all-out war broke out after Modi took Manohar to task for not allowing him to release the stake holdings of all franchisees after his tweet on the Kochi holdings invited questions over others.

Former minister of state for external affairs Shahsi Tharoor had to resign from the government after his name cropped into the controversy. The opposition stalled the proceedings in the two houses of parliament seeking a JPC to look into the issue.Indian Government is to answer accusations today that it tapped ministers' phones, including one involved in a growing money-laundering scandal surrounding the Indian Premier League cricket tournament.

AIR Correspondent reports, after a seven-hour long marathon meeting held on Saturday, BCCI's top brass once again held close-door high level talks at board headquarters in Mumbai on Saturday to fine tune strategy ahead of the IPL Governing Council meeting to be held on Monday,barely 24 hours are remaining for the crucial IPL Governing Council meeting which will decide the fate of Lalit Modi as IPL Chairman and Commissioner.Details of the agenda of the meeting have not been officially disclosed yet, but sources said, the meeting, which is in process, is being held to study modalities to pass resolution against IPL chief. Lalit Modi has been suspended before IPL governing meet and twenty two allegations of fiscal irregularities and discipline have been labelled against Modi and he has been given fifteen days notice to explain.

Barkha Dutt tweets Modi has a lot to answer for, but think he raises a fair point about collective responsibility, was the BCCI in slumber all these years? Barkha Dutt further adds,"am told the chargesheet against modi has 22 allegations. And the BCCI will obviously be no hurry to hear modi's responses to them."

Media sources said BCCI is examining provisions to remove Modi as IPL chief.According to the sources, BCCI has asked Modi to quit his post. However, defiant Modi is likely to boycott the governing council meet.BCCI President Shashank Manohar, secretary N Srinivasan, Chief Administrative Officer Ratnakar Shetty, IPL vice-chairman Niranjan Shah and BCCI vice - President Arun Jaitely are present in the strategic meet at the headquarters.
