Six nations call on Iran to accept IAEA inspectors

Six world powers negotiating with Iran over its nuclear program have called on the Islamic nation to admit international inspectors to a military installation.US, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China made the appeal in a joint statement on Thursday at a board meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The document expresses strong concern about Iran's accelerated uranium enrichment activities.

It demands that Iran grant the IAEA access to the Parchin military complex near Tehran. The site is suspected of being used to develop nuclear weapons.US and its European allies had been seeking a resolution condemning Iran, but gave up the plan in view of the reluctance shown by Russia and China.

Iran rejected the IAEA's request to enter the site when the nuclear watchdog sent monitors in January and February. But Iran announced earlier this week that it would admit IAEA inspectors.

IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano said on Thursday that the agency had not been formally notified of Iran's decision and urged the country to cooperate to realize the on-site inspection as soon as possible.

The acting US envoy to the IAEA, Robert Wood, said further action would be taken if Iran keeps refusing to cooperate.

Iran's IAEA ambassador, Ali Asghar Soltanieh, said his country is ready to cooperate, but it will never stop its nuclear development
