Friday, 21 June 2019, 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

India’s ailing labour market threatens the fragile optimism that underpins the nation’s aspirations. Urgent action in required to create a more job-rich economy that harnesses the productive potential of India's population and raises living standards for all.

To further this critical policy imperative, the JustJobs Network, with support from the Azim Premji University, has developed a JustJobs Index (JJI) – a comprehensive, data-driven tool to measure the quantity and quality of jobs – at the state level in India. This index, the first of its kind to measure both the quantity and quality of jobs, broadens the discourse on employment beyond the incomplete metric of unemployment. The report analyzes the factors driving state-level rankings.

NatureFresh™ Acti Heart focuses on complete heart care through a new ad campaign

#PooraKhayaal encourages consumers to think beyond cholesterol before making a purchase decision
Highlights the 5 warriors which makes it the ideal oil for complete heart care
New Delhi, June 20, 2019: NatureFresh™ Acti Heart, the new extension of Cargill’s oils business in India’s home-grown brand, NatureFresh™, has unveiled its first campaign“#PooraKhayaal”, today. Positioned as an oil that gives complete heart care, NatureFresh™ Acti Heart aims at building awareness and educating people on the many heart ailments that exist today. The narrative of the campaign hinges on the premise that there are more than one causes for heart ailments, and they are not restricted to any particular age, gender, or fitness level. The campaign persuades consumers to question their current cooking oil choice - move beyond ‘adha adhura’ or incomplete information and ensure they have ‘poora’ or complete information while making an educated decision on their oil purchase.
This thought-provoking campaign features three films portraying varied scenarios featuring a friend, a mother, and a wife. The three montages convey that there are diverse reasons for heart problems such as inflammation, unhealthy lifestyle, high cholesterol, etc., all of which impacts the heart’s health, either directly or indirectly. Consumers’ current cooking oil does not tackle all these aspects and hence the need for taking complete care or #PooraKhayaal of their heart. NatureFresh™ Acti Heart, powered by the 5 warriors – is rich in Omega 3, has high MUFA, an ideal omega 6: omega 3 ratio along with the presence of Vitamin A, D, E and anti-oxidants like Oryzanol, is hence, the ideal choice for heart health. NatureFresh™ Acti Heart has also been accredited by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for having the ideal Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio, reiterating it being healthy oil for consumers. Its high smoking point makes it ideal for all types of Indian cooking – sautéing as well as frying.  Hence, NatureFresh™ Acti Heart empowers consumers by promising ‘adha adhura nahi, poora khayaal’ of their heart.
In addition to the TV Commercial, the campaign also extends to the print and digital medium. Built around the concept of being cautious of ‘adhura’ or incomplete information, the brand has launched a digital anthem titled “The Adhura Gyan’ anthem which, like the TVC, encourages consumers to question their current life choices and persuades them to have complete information about all their life choices including their cooking oil. This digital anthem will be highlighted across Facebook, Google, YouTube and other popular digital platforms.
Speaking on the launch of the new campaign, Subin Sivan, Marketing Head, Cargill’s oils business in India said, ““Cardiovascular problems are increasingly becoming a significant area of concern among urban households today. In India specifically, the problem is salient among a younger population. Unfortunately, a lot of the information and awareness around heart problems are limited to cholesterol reduction. NatureFresh Acti Heart’s campaign #PooraKhayaal aims to shift the narrative from cholesterol reduction to complete heart care. Our goal to is enable consumers to question their current choice of cooking oils that only addresses cholesterol.”
Commenting on the campaign, Janmenjoy Mohanty, Regional Creative Officer, Lowe Lintas said, “At Lowe Lintas, we nurture brands to become strong partners to consumers. NatureFresh Acti-Heart is one such brand. Heart health is a big concern today, even among the youth, due to the chaotic, always-on lives we lead. The current perception among consumers is that if cholesterol is in control, they and their family will be free from heart ailments. Through #PooraKhayaal, the intent is to bust this myth through impactful stories and encourage consumers to question their choice of cooking oil.”

Seminar on “Environmental Consciousness”

Despite increasing knowledge, awareness and technological advancement, it is a fact that our ancestors were more far more environment-conscious than us. Their common needs did not go beyond fuel collection, flower plucking, fruit gathering and the like. They neither indulged in destruction of forests nor did they resort to hunting and poaching in an unscrupulous manner. Unlike the plunder of today, where the governing passion is to explore and exploit the known and unknown sources of wealth, the attitude of our forefathers towards life and its mission was ‘live and let others live’. In ancient times nature held our respect, perhaps due to religious or supernatural associations. Now that we have a scientific grasp of nature, we have lost sight of its wider aesthetic, spiritual and complementary value. With the onslaught of industrialization, nature has been through a rapid exploitation leading to pollution and depletion of its resources.

Media Invite

After the results of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections were announced, political parties as well as several political commentators
are trying to understand the social and political reasons leading to the 2019 verdict. These analyses have largely focused
on political and organisational limitations of the opposition compared to the RSS-BJP. While we recognise the urgent
need to address these political and organisational challenges, it is equally important to recognise the threat to Indian democracy
being posed by the use of EVMs. It is, indeed, the X factor, the one concern in Indian politics which we can ill afford to ignore
in our fight to defend the idea of India.

During the 2019 Election, several startling facts regarding EVM have come into public domain, which are extremely worrying.
Number of organisations and citizens are writing an open letter to political parties to
Reject EVM to Safeguard Electoral Process and Save Indian Democracy.

The letter will be released to the media on June 20th at 2 pm at the Press Club of India.

Nandita Narain, Professor, Delhi University, Kawalpreet Kaur, AISA Delhi president,
N Sai Balajee, JNUSU president, Priyadarshi Chowdhury, National Coordinator AISO and
Dr Sunilam, NAPM will address the press conference.

Kindly depute a reporter, photographer to cover the press conference.

Imran to Meet Russia China President

Prime Minister Imran Khan and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet here formally today (Friday). The two leaders are in Bishkek attending the 19th Meeting of the Council of the Heads of State (CHS) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
Yesterday, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Russian President Vladimir Putin held an informal discussionduring a dinner Kyrgyzstan president in honour of heads of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
During the dinner hosted by Kyrgyzstan President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, the Pakistan premier and President Putin shook hands and inquired about the well-being of each other, according to sources.
In an interview to Russian news agency Sputnik, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that his government has been mulling purchase of arms from Moscow, given the fact that the Cold War was long over.
Asked about military cooperation between Pakistan and Russia and joint drills later this year, he said they had developed cooperation with Russia, between their defence forces, and hoped to deepen their contacts.
"Most of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s were spent in the Cold War region, where India was close to the Soviet Union, and Pakistan was close to the United States. We were in different camps. Now things have changed," the Pakistan premier said.
"India is also friendly with the United States, and Pakistan is also friendly with the US. So we no longer have the Cold War situation. It is refreshing that we have developed our contacts with Russia, and they are developing all the time."
Responding to a question about the import of Russian weapons, he said, "As I’ve said, once the Cold War was over. Previously Pakistan was tied to the US, and, as we all know, India was tied to the Soviet Union. And no longer is that situation there. First, we hope that our tension with India decreases, so we do not have to buy arms because we want to spend money on human development".
"But, yes, we are looking for arms from Russia, and I know our military is already in touch with the Russian military," Khan commented.
Regarding the prospects of Pak-Russia cooperation within the SCO, he said they look forward to have exchanges, develop more contacts and improve their trade.
"Russia is an energy-surplus country. Pakistan has shortages in energy, so we hope to talk on those areas. We already are. Apart from defence, we want to also improve our trade in other areas with Russia," the prime minister said.

Prime Minister Imran Khan met Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Council of Heads of State of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting in Bishkek on Friday.
PM Imran and Chinese President Xi held wide-ranging discussions on bilateral, regional and multilateral issues.
On Twitter, Foreign Office spokesman Dr Fisal said both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening Pakistan China All Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated his government's resolve to ensure early completion of CPEC projects.
President Xi expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s measures against terrorism and acknowledged efforts for regional peace and stability.
Both sides decided to enhance the depth and breadth of cooperation at all levels to build Pakistan China Community of Shared Destiny in the New Era.
On Thursday, the prime minister met Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Sharipovich Jeenbekov and agreed to strengthen land and air connectivity between the two countries.
The two leaders also reviewed bilateral relations and agreed to comprehensively upgrade mutual cooperation in diverse fields.
PM Imran and President Jeenbekov also agreed to enhance people-to-people contacts and boost tourism cooperation through friendly visa regimes. They also agreed to the Joint Ministerial Commission and Bilateral Political Consultations soon.
Earlier upon arrival in Bishkek for the Council of the Heads of State meeting, PM Imran was received by Kyrgyzstan PM Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev and Health Minister Health Kosmosbek Sarievich Cholponbaev.
Later in the day, the prime minister met Russian President Vladimir Putin during a dinner hosted by Kyrgyzstan president in honour of heads of SCO.
During the dinner, the Pakistan premier and President Putin shook hands and inquired well-being of each other.
The leaders of SCO member and observer states, as well as representatives of important international organisations, are attending the meeting.
Since becoming a member of SCO in 2017, Pakistan has been actively participating at all levels in various SCO mechanisms including foreign affairs, defence, national security, economy and trade, science and technology and innovation, youth and women empowerment, tourism and media.
Besides Pakistan, SCO’s membership comprises China, Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. SCO observers include Afghanistan, Iran, Belarus and Mongolia.
The Council of Heads of State is the highest forum of SCO which considers and defines strategy, prospects and priorities of the organisation.
