Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2016 – Leg 4

Neha triumphs at Tollygunge

Kolkata, 12 February 2016: Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi carded 1 over 71 in the final round to win the fourth leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour at the Tollygunge Club here on Friday. Amateur Tvesa Malik finished with a total score of 214 to take the second position, followed by Smriti Mehra at 217. The INR 6,00,000 event culminated today.
Neha carded two bogeys on the 5th and 9th holes along with a birdie on the 7th.  She added three more birdies on the 13th, 15th and 17th holes while dropping shots on the 12th, 14th and 18th to finish the round with a total score of 211 after 54 holes. This is Neha’s second victory in as many weeks. Overnight joint leader Tvesa Malik could not sustain her second round momentum and carded 4 over 74 to finish second on the leaderboard. She carded two bogeys on the 3rd and 8th holes along with a birdie on the 7th in her front-nine. She added another birdie on the 10th hole but bogeys on the 11th and 12th along with a double on the 14th spoilt her chances of winning her second title on the Tour.
Kolkata’s Smriti Mehra started impressively, playing a bogey-free front-nine with four birdies on the 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th holes. However, her back-nine was a different story as she carded three double bogeys on the 13th, 14th and 18th holes with just a lone birdie on the 15th to finish the round with a score of 1 over 71. Pune’s Shweta Galande carded 4 over 74 in the final round. Her outing included five bogeys on the 1st, 5th, 11th, 12thand 16th holes, with just one birdie on the 10th to finish with a total score of 220 after three rounds.
Jaipur’s Afshan Fatima carded 9 over 79 in the final round to take the fifth place. Her error prone round included six bogeys on the 2nd, 9th, 12th, 13th, 16th and 18th holes, along with a double on the 5th. She carded the lone birdie of her round on the 4th hole. Overseas player Kiran Matharu carded 6 over 76 in the final round to take the sixth place with a total score of 222, followed by Kapurthala golfer Gursimar Badwal at 224 in the seventh position.
From the eastern city of Kolkata, the Tour now moves to Mumbai for the fifth leg to be played at Bombay Presidency Golf Club from 22nd to 25th February.
