US, allies carry out 15 airstrikes against ISIS

The US-led coalition has carried out 11 airstrikes against Islamic State (IS, also known as ISIS/ISIL) in Iraq and four more in Syria, a statement from the Combined Joint Task Force said. The air attacks targeted tactical units throughout Iraq as well as vehicles and weapons, destroying 49 Islamic State fighting positions along with four tunnels and a weapons cache, Reuters reports. In Syria, the coalition hit a staging area, a tactical unit, and destroyed five excavators in strikes near the cities of Ar Raqqah, Mar’a and Tamakh, according to the statement
