Anantjeet Naruka’s Skeet Bronze Wraps up Fruitful Outing for India Juniors at the 2ndISSF Junior Cup
New Delhi, 1 July 2015: Promising 17-year old Skeet shooter Anantjeet Singh Naruka, held his own in a quality six man final to win the Bronze Medal and conclude a successful 2nd ISSF Junior Cup expedition for the Indian team. India ended the five day event held across the Rifle-Pistol and Shotgun categories, with 14 medals. Three of them were Gold, Six Silvers and Anantjeet won them their Fifth Bronze of the event on the concluding day.
The other event of the final day saw Italian team mates Luca Miotto and Francesco Idone share the Gold and Silver Medals respectively in the Junior Men’s Trap Shooting. Eemil Perttisalo of Finland won the Bronze. Two Italian teams ensured the order remained same in the Team Trap competition with the Russians bagging the Bronze ahead of Finland.

36 DEAD AS FERRY WITH 173 ON BOARD CAPSIZES OFF IN ORMOC, PHILIPPINES

At least 36 people were killed after a passenger ferry with 173 on board capsized in rough waters off Ormoc City on central Leyte island past noon on Thursday, AFP reported, citing Philippines officials. A report on Manila radio said 21 people were missing, and Coast guard spokesman Armand Balilo told AP that 118 have been rescued so far. Rescue boats picked up survivors who clung to the overturned hull of the Kim Nirvana, 1km from the port of Ormoc.

US, CUBA TO OPEN EMBASSIES

Cuba and the US have agreed to open embassies in each other’s capitals, and President Barack Obama is expected to announce the agreement Wednesday, AP reported. The move is seen as the biggest tangible step in the countries’ historic bid to restore ties after more than a half-century of hostilities. The US Embassy in Havana is reportedly scheduled to open later this month. The re-establishment of embassies has been negotiated following a surprise December announcement that secret talks had led to an agreement to restart diplomatic relations.
