Delhi Daredevils introduce Sangwari Khabariya
A group of young journalists to highlight issues of children in Sarguja

Raipur, 5th May 2015: The programme of Sangwari Khabariya, a collective of child reporters training to be journalists from Sarguja district of Chhattisgarh was launched by Delhi Daredevils here today. The introduction was held as part of the Dare to Care initiative – a joint collaboration of UNICEF and Delhi Daredevils which urges Indian citizens and the large support base of Delhi Daredevils to actively advocate for the rights of adolescent girls, especially those who are excluded and marginalized.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Ritu Sain. I.A.S, Collector of Sarguja said “participation of children is key in their endeavour to prosper and Sangwari Khabariya is a platform for girls and boys from marginalised communities not just to participate but also to advocate for child rights’. “I am very confident that Sangwari Khabariya will be a bridge to reaching out to many children towards addressing their issues.” Added Ms. Sain.

Delhi Daredevils team also interacted with members of Sangwari Khabariya team. Post the interaction, Zaheer Khan, member of Delhi Daredevils team said “he is proud to be associated with Dare to Dream initiative and Sangwari Khabariya.” He also appreciated the efforts of UNICEF towards engaging adolescents in the country. 

Reiterating the significance of the Child Rights Convention, Mr. Prasanta Dash, Chief Field Office, UNICEF Office for Chhattisgarh said that Sangwari Khabariya is an effort in partnership with the district administration of Sarguja for children to participate, engage and advocate for their rights. He added that Sangwari Khabariya is a group of young journalists who are being trained in media tools like video and radio who dared to dream and took the task of speaking for the children in the state and advocate for their rights.

Mr. Hemant Dua, CEO, Delhi Daredevils said that through ‘Dare to Care’  initiative with UNICEF, the team of the team was successful in highlighting issues of adolescents especially on education, children marriage and participation. He also reaffirmed his commitment and support for UNICEF’s work in the country. 

Sangwari Khabariya is a UNICEF effort in partnership with the district administration of Sarguja for children to participate, engage and advocate for their rights.  Sangwari Khabariya is a group of young journalists who are being trained in media tools like video and radio.
