Vani takes centre stage on day 2

Kolkata, 5^th February 2015: Vani Kapoor played the only under par round of 3 under 67 to grab the lead in the 4^th Leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour. Overnight leader Sharmila Nicollet could not sustain the momentum and slipped to third place. The INR 6,00,000 event is being played at Tollygunge Club, Kolkata and will culminate on 6^th February.

 Hero Order of Merit leader Vani Kapoor started on a good note, carding a birdie on the 2^nd hole. However, she faltered immediately thereafter and holed consecutive bogies on the 3^rd and 4^th holes. Quickly regaining her composure, Vani fired four more birdies on the 7^th, 8^th, 10^th and 11^th holes to finish with a total score of 141 after the second round. Trailing Vani by five strokes is Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi. Neha played a cautious round, carding two birdies on the 2^nd and 13^th holes along with three bogies on the 1^st, 7^th and 14^th holes. However, a double bogey on the 17^th hole spoilt her score line, and she had to be content with a score of 3 over 73.

Hero Motocorp sponsored Sharmila Nicollet had an indifferent day as she  played a birdie-less front nine with bogies on the 1^st, 3^rd, 6^th and 9^th holes. Her back nine ran a similar script as she carded two double bogies on the 10^th and 17^th holes with a lone birdie on the 15^th hole. She is tied third with Kiran Matharu, with identical scores of 147 after 36 holes. Kiran carded two birdies on the 2^nd and 13^th holes with five bogies on the 3^rd, 4^th, 9^th,15^th, 16^th holes. She also carded a double bogey on the 1^st hole and finished the round with a score of 5 over 75. 

Veteran Smriti Mehra is placed fifth after round two with a total score of 149. She is followed by Delhi’s Ankita Tiwana, Pune’s Shweta Galande and Kapurthala golfer Gursimar Badwal, all tied in sixth position with identical scores of 151 after 36 holes. Delhi’s Gauri Monga and Panchkula golfer Amandeep Drall are placed ninth and tenth respectively.
