Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2015 – Leg 5

Vani claims her third title at BPGC

Mumbai, 20th February 2015: Vani Kapoor played a cautious round of 2 over 72 to win the 5th leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour. This is Vani’s third win in five appearances this season. Rookie Amandeep Drall and overnight leader Kiran Matharu finished second and third respectively at the INR 6,00,000 event which culminated today at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club, Mumbai.

Hero Order of Merit leader Vani Kapoor had an indifferent start and carded three bogies on the 5th, 6th and 9th holes with a lone birdie on the 8th hole in her front nine. However the Delhi youngster played with much more control in the latter half, dropping just one shot on the 15th hole while carding a birdie on the 10th hole. She finished with a total score of 211.

Panchkula’s Amandeep Drall continued her impressive run as she took the second spot with a total score of 212. She carded two late birdies on the 16th and 18th holes to jump ahead of Kiran Matharu. She also carded a bogey on the 11th hole with a double bogey on the 7th hole to finish with a score of 1 over 71. Overnight leader Kiran Mathauru had an off day on the park. She played a birdie-less round of 5 over 75 with bogies on the 3rd, 11th, 12th, 16th and 17th holes. She finished with a total score of 213, two strokes clear of Hero Motocorp sponsored Sharmila Nicollet.

Bengaluru golfer Sharmila Nicollet carded four birdies in the 1st, 4th, 10th and 12th holes, maximum by any player on the day. However, bogies on the 7th, 9th,11th and 14th holes along with double bogey on the 13th hole marred her score line and she returned with a card of 2 over 72 on the final day.

Chandigarh’s Saaniya Sharma played a round of even par 70 with three birdies on the 6th, 10th and 17th holes with equal number of bogies on the 12th, 13th and 18th holes. She took the fifth spot with a total score of 220, followed by veteran Smriti Mehra and Delhi’s Gauri Monga, who finished sixth and seventh respectively.
