Greetings
Dear friends,
We hope you all had a very festive Diwali this year. And after the very lean newsletter last week, we have a lot of catching up to do as we have to tell you more about GLOBALOCAL 2013. This time it is different and we really don’t wish to make it sound clichéd when we say that. Therefore, we are going to explain our concept to you briefly and we hope you will see the ‘difference’ as it were. The idea that propelled us forward is to put together an event which is unique in its ability to bring various segments of the publishing and ancillary trade together and provide them with a platform to not just network but talk actual business, to not just meet but also host international publishing companies and do much more under the roof of this ‘Forum for Content’ called GLOBALOCAL.
As you read further, you will have our note on GLOBALOCAL 2013 and the Call for Registrations from India which also outlines the event in brief for you. In addition and just for your reference, you might recall the 30th October issue of the Newsletter which had some industry news on rights trade which further provides you a context for this conjoined effort called GLOBALOCAL.
Enjoy the read as we look forward to your response,
Best wishes,
The GBO Team

GLOBALOCAL 2013: The Forum for Content
28-29 January, 2013 at Jaipur

http://admin/gbo/images/siteimages/GL.jpg
After three successful years of GLOBALOCAL in New Delhi, with three different formats, it is time for a change and to take GLOBALOCAL to the next level.
This year we will introduce you to GLOBALOCAL – the ‘Forum for Content’, in Jaipur from 28- 29 January- in a new locations with some new elements added to make this format a very exciting one for fostering business and networking in the publishing fraternity. We will offer you      various opportunities to meet new business partners, present your products/ideas, discuss trends and topics with key industry players and interact with professionals from all over the world. This event will be one-off also because it will bring together the different sections of the publishing media/trade- from publishers to distributors/retailers, printers and preMedia service providers- traversing the national and international, the on-ground and the online worlds to signify how hand in hand these facets work in the industry itself.
GLOBALOCAL 2013 will focus on increasing one on one networking opportunities for Indian publishers/distributors/retailers/digital service providers and international publishers. To that effect, we are inviting publishers from across the globe, interested in the Indian publishing industry from a business perspective, to come visit India during the week between the Jaipur Literary Festival 2013, GLOBALOCAL 2013 and New Delhi World Book Fair 2013 in order to maximise their experience of the Indian Publishing industry. This part is the newest addition to the programme and is called ‘EXCLUSIVE INDIA’. We will be sharing further information on this in parts through our newsletter. So, this week we have for you the brief on Exclusive India registrations for Indian companies which you can read below and write to us if interested in participating and meeting the international participants in your home city itself.
While we work on making it a more unique platform with novel additions every year, GLOBALOCAL 2013 will remain true to its essence as the Forum for Content while evolving into a platform for your rights and licensing business. The topography of this space will comprise of an area dedicated to business meetings and presentations where participating companies have their areas earmarked but still adjacent to each other- much like a market. And then we will surely have the specially targeted Matchmaking sessions, Rights and License seminars and a CEO as well as a STM Roundtable discussion to further the cause of actual rights trade, the real trend forecasting and focused networking for the publishing/allied industry.
If reading the above made you interested or just curious, please write in to us at srivastava@newdelhi.gbo.org because not only we’d love to hear from you but also because your advice and cooperation is what keeps us going on.
