Sonia & Shinde visit Assam relief camps

The UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi accompanied by Home Minister Shushil Kumar Shinde today visited relief camps. They were accompanied by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and met representatives of civil society organisations. Mrs. Sonia Gandhi expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the State government for the people in relief camps and assured them of full security. Day curfew has been lifted in all the violence affected districts. However, the night curfew continues as a precautionary measure. Official correspondent reports over One lakh sixty thousand people have returned to their homes from the relief camps. However, more than three lakh people are still in relief camps and state government is taking all steps to ensure proper medical care of people living in the camps.

The security forces have intensified their patrolling to instill confidence among the people apart from keeping an eye on anti-social elements ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.
