GATEFORUM launches eGATE to provide Live Classes for GATE aspirants
More than 7 lakh students participate in GATE 2012

New Delhi February 17, 2012: GATEFORUM, an established player in preparation for the prestigious Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) has today announced the launch of EGATE for the benefit of students who are preparing for the GATE exams.

GATE is the second largest qualifying exam in the technical side, after AIEEE, with 5.5 lakh test takers in GATE 2011 and more than 7 lakh test takers for GATE 2012.

GATE is the qualifying exam for admission to ME/M.Tech/M.S courses in various institutes in India like the IISc, IITs, NITs, Government Engineering Colleges and also private engineering colleges. Many top notch PSUs like BHEL, NTPC, IOCL have adapted GATE as the qualifying exam for filling up their vacancies. GATE is an All India Examination conducted by the seven Indian Institutes of Technology and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD),the Government of India.

Speaking on the launch of eGATE, Mr. Abhijit Chaudhari, Director GATEFORUM said, “We feel that with the introduction of eGATE, which is essentially live classes through the internet, it would be easier for the aspirants to avail the technical training from their respective cities. Currently it’s being observed that aspirants from the State have increased to nearly 45,000 this year and we can attribute it to the growing craze for jobs in the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) that have made GATE mandatory for their technical jobs. In such a scenario our product, eGATE, would be a boon for the students who aim to clear GATE successfully”.

GATE is a vast but highly fragmented market. Unlike the CAT, where the bulk of the aspirants come from the metros and bigger cities, GATE aspirants come from a wide variety of small and big towns. Also, the syllabus and training involved is complex, which makes quality classroom coaching inaccessible in many places.

Also present on the occasion, Mr. Chandan Kumar Jha Director, GATEFORUM said, “GATE Test is not only for admission to M.Tech courses, but an entry platform for PSU Jobs. We have observed over the time that many of the aspirants in Tier II & III cities are deprived of quality coaching and training due to inaccessibility of resources. Through eGATE we aim to fill up this huge gap and bring opportunities for candidates to apply for technical and public sector jobs. Today candidates are now tested for both core skills and the general aptitude, which was not the case earlier. Hence more emphasis should be to provide quality study materials to the Candidates. Thus, for the benefit of students in far flung areas and also those in the larger towns who find urban commuting stressful and inconvenient, GATEFORUM is launching eGATE.

eGATE is essentially live classes, via internet, with two way interaction between the faculty and the students. The faculty will conduct the lectures from GATEFORUM studios in Hyderabad and a GATE aspirant can access them from any via the internet or can come to a GATEFORUM center and view them on a big screen. With eGATE, we want to ensure that a GATE aspirant in any part of the country gets the highest quality of training at his or her convenience, added Mr. Jha

GATEFORUM, promoted by alumni of the IIMs and IITs, is the largest organization in the field of GATE training, with a presence in more than 45 cities. Currently GATEFORUM offers various preparatory tools for GATE aspirants like Classroom Coaching (ICP), Correspondence/Self study Course (DLP), All India test series (TarGATE) and Online test series.
