To Participate in the Republic Day Parade – 2012
This year 23 Tableaux will
participate in the forthcoming Republic Day Parade – 2012 where India will
showcase its military might, varied cultural diversity, development in Science
and Technology and economic strength. This year’s tableaux component comprises
13 States and Ten Union Ministries / Departments. Each tableau depicts its own
story to portray themes ranging from Heritage, Culture, Art & Crafts,
Biotechnology, Sustainable Agriculture and Environment.

celebrating 2011-12 as tourism year with the slogan “Maharashtra

Goa – A Place of
Spectacular Joy

The tableaux is based on a colourful
festival i.e., Carnival of Goa which displays a
spectacle of joy of its people.

Bhootaradhane
|
Bhootaradhane is an ancient cultural tradition of Holy
Spirit, cult worship which is quite popular in coastal Karnataka.

MEGHALAYA

Jaintia Festivals of Meghalaya
|
It depicts the most colourful dances,
i.e., ‘Shad Pliang’ means plate dance of the Jantias, a major tribal community inhabiting the state of
Meghalaya.

RAJASTHAN

Aamer ka Qila
|
Aamer Fort is a typical example of
medieval Rajputana lifestyle. It has unique artistic style which blends
both Hindu and Mughal elements.

BIHAR

Dharhara’s Daughters of
Forest
|
Dharhara is famous for its unique
tradition, followed through generation from centuries. The village came into limelight in 2010
when it was reported that the families plant a minimum of 10 fruit bearing
trees whenever a girl child is born.

Enthralling Bhortal Dance of Assam
|
Bhortal Dance is performed in a
group. 6-7 dancers present the Assamese dance together. It is performed on fast dance beats.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh

The larger than life figure of Sher-e-Punjab
Maharaja Ranjit Singh atop the Lahore fort adorns
the tractor portion of the tableaux of the state of Punjab.

Communitisation
|
A govt. programme aimed at empowering
people, ‘communitization’ of Nagaland
won the coveted UN Award for Public Service from Asia and the Pacific Region
for fostering participation in policy making through innovative mechanishm.

Sakewa of Sikkim
|
Sakewa is a festival celebrated
annually by the Kirat Khambu
Rai community of Sikkim. It is a way of performing Bhoomi Pujan or worshiping the
mother earth.

Handicrafts
|
The range of Indian handicrafts is as diverse
as the country’s cultural diversity.
The tableaux on Indian handicrafts reflects the
journey of Indian handicrafts from the traditional to the modern world,
representing the rich cultural heritage from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.

Saakshar Bharat
|
The design depicts two worlds,
one world (on the trailer) depicts the process of transformation through
education. The other world (on the tractor) depicts the aspirational
goal- a society that is fully literate.

Tribal Empowerment
|
It portrays the empowerment of the tribal
population through various means created for livelihood avenues and
education. Recognition of the forest
rights forms a supplementary message to the same effect.

Snow Valley
|
It depicts the Snow Valley made of fresh
flowers as they bloom with different colourful
flowers in the northern parts’ of India.

ELECTION COMMISSION OF INDIA

National Voter’s Day
|
National Voter’s Day, observed on 25 January
carries the objective to maximize enrollment of voters and thereby enhance
the quality of Indian democracy.

A proactive force to guard our Economic Frontiers
|
Besides Indian Customs being a significant
contributor to Central Government revenues and facilitating the movement of
international passengers and goods,
Indian Customs protects our economy, environment, wildlife and
heritage by checking smuggling including that of endangered species of fauna,
arts, antiquities etc.

It depicts the emerging trends of
diversification in agriculture. The colourful aquarium in the front highlights inland and deepsea aqua culture in the country.

It presents steel as an all-pervasive component
in every sector. The concept of
strength is conveyed through a larger than life figure of a strongly built
male, in a take-off pose.

National e-Governance Plan
|
Embodying the spirit of partnership, the
Department of Information Technology’s Tableau represents the silent
revolution of Public Services closer home sweeping across India, enabled in a
partnership with private sector, NGOs and even village level entrepreneurs.

Punjab Mail – Then & Now
|
Punjab Mail is the first train of the Indian
Railways to achieve the distinction of entering its 100th year of
service. It was started in 1912.

More
than 450 artists, fabricators and designers living in the special artist
village are involved in the making of these tableaux.
