Rajesh Rawat wins maiden title in Jaipur

Jaipur, May 5, 2011: Rajesh Rawat of Lucknow won the first leg of the 2011 PGTI Feeder Tour at the Rambagh Golf Club in Jaipur on Thursday. Rawat won his first professional title in his maiden appearance on the PGTI after a carded a four under 66 in the third and final round. He totaled four under 206 for the tournament. Jaipur’s Vishal Singh was the runner-up at three under 207.

Rajesh Rawat (73-67-66) made six birdies against two bogeys to come through in the final round. The highlights of his round were a couple of 20-feet birdie putts on the eighth and 14th as well as tee shots hit with pin-point precision on the 13th and 16th that left him with easy birdie putts.Rawat said, “It’s a great feeling to win in my first ever appearance on the PGTI. All the hard work that I put in to come through the qualifying school this year is finally paying off. I had a slow start today but I really turned it around on the back nine thanks to some accurate hitting and fabulous putting.”
He added, “I got some momentum going with the birdie on the eighth. From there on I knew that I would be in with a chance if I could shoot an under par score.”
Vishal Singh (71-69-67) of Jaipur came in second after he made four birdies and a bogey in his final round of 67. He totaled three under 207 for the week.

Dinesh Raghuvanshi (71-71-66) of Pune finished third at two under 208.
