Azad Calls on President of Iran

Azad Calls on President of Iran on his visit the Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad called on the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, last night at Tehran.Sh. Azad is on a two day visit to Iran to represent India at the Festival of Nowruz. Several heads of state and senior ministers from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and other nations are participating in this historic celebration.

During his meeting with Dr Ahmadinejad, Sh. Azad conveyed greetings of people of India on the occasion of Nowruz and recalled close historical, cultural, economic and political relations between India and Iran. Shri. Azad expressed the hope that further strengthening of relations between India and Iran would benefit the region in general and for both the countries in particular. Expressing similar sentiments, President Ahmadinejad conveyed that Iran attaches high value to the relations with India. He said, the aim of holding Nowruz celebrations is to bring together people and foster peace in the region.
