COMMISSIONING OF INDIAN COAST GUARD SHIP H-188

ON 12 DEC 12

           Indian Coast Guard Ship H-188, the second in the series of twelve          Air Cushion Vehicles (ACVs) designed and built by M/s Griffon Hoverworks Limited (GHL), UK was commissioned at Haldia by Inspector General Rajendra Singh, PTM, TM, Deputy Director General Coast Guard. The commissioning ceremony was witnessed by Inspector General KC Pandey, PTM, Commander Coast Guard Region (North-East) and other dignitaries from the Central and State Governments.

        The 21 metres long Air Cushion Vehicle with 31 tonnes displacement can achieve a maximum speed of 45 knots. The ACV is capable of undertaking multifarious tasks such as surveillance, interdiction, search and rescue and rendering assistance to small boats/craft in distress at sea.

        With the commissioning of H-188, the force level of ICG has gone up to 77 ships & boats and with the planned inductions the force level would be doubling by 2018.

       

        The Air Cushion Vehicle H-188 will be based at Haldia under the Administrative and Operational Control of the Commander Coast Guard Region (North-East). 

        The hovercraft is commanded by Commandant D Dinakaran. The hovercraft has a crew of 02 Officers and 11 Enrolled Personnel.

Northern India Science Fair at National Science Centre

The Northern India Science Fair is being organized from 10^th to 12^th December, 2012 at National Science Center, Delhi. This fair is organized every year at National Science Centre to provide students a forum to give physical shape to socially relevant innovative technological and scientific ideas. Teams from the Northern States i.e. Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand and Delhi are participating in this Science Fair and displaying their individual and team projects. The fair also offers a contest for teachers and gives them an opportunity to show their capability to develop & use  low cost teaching aids to supplement their classroom teaching.

The fair exhibited several models and investigatory projects providing practical approach towards solving energy conservation problems and moving to recycling, reducing pollution etc. One of the model on ‘intelligent transport system’ in the fair explains how the Bluetooth and CCTV can control the heavy traffic and avoid accidents. Another model on ‘Power House’ using Green House Effect was gathering crowd at the Centre. Models on ‘generation of electricity using Overhead Community Water Tank’,  ‘new design of windmills’ to capture more power to meet future energy needs were also visited by large number of students.

The fair was inaugurated by Prof. Yashpal on 10^th December, 2012. Total 54 projects are on display by the students of northern states in this Fair. This Science fair will culminates on 12^th December, 2012.The valedictory & prize distribution function will take place on 12^th December 2012. Shri Vineet Joshi, Chairman, CBSE is expected to be chief guest on this occasion.

12^th December 2012, Jhajjar, Haryana, India: Panasonic India, today announced the expansion of its presence in India with the opening of its first model ‘eco ideas’ Factory in India. This is the company’s latest initiative to showcase best practices in sustainable manufacturing and raise level of eco consciousness in the community through outreach activities. With the opening of this manufacturing unit in India, Panasonic reiterated how localization is key for the company’s growth and its commitment in India. This factory promises not just state-of-the-art manufacturing of high-tech products, but also brings much-needed employment, economic growth, and social benefits to the region. In addition to creating hundreds of jobs, vocational trainings will be offered to improve the technical skills of the people working in and around the Jhajjar facility, helping them increase their employment opportunities.

The factory was inaugurated in the presence of dignitaries like Honorable Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Bhupinder Singh Hooda; Shri. Pradeep Jain ‘Aditya, Minister for Rural Development, Government of India; Shri Naresh Kumar Sharma, MLA, Badli; Mr. Randeep Singh Surjewala, Industries and Commerce Minister, Haryana; Shri Deepinder Hooda, Member of Parliament; Shri Ram Kishan Gujjar, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Industries and Commerce Department, Mr. Pradeep Puri, CEO of Model Economic Township Company Limited; Mr. Rajeev Arora, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Mr. Tarun Bajaj, Managing Director of Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC).  Senior representatives from Panasonic also graced the occasion. 

The new Panasonic India Group facility, located at Dadri Toi in Jhajjar Haryana, will implement a wide range of eco initiatives, including development of technologies to support a zero-carbon lifestyle and the adoption of sustainable business practices across the entire company. Panasonic Technopark is designed with various green features, which include a 28.29 KWp solar modules installation at the rooftop of the office, entrance canopy and car park to reduce carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions, and a 100% water recycling system for a sustainable water provision. As part of the factory’s sustainable manufacturing, the company will implement initiatives that focus on three key areas, which include CO₂ emissions reduction, waste management and recycling, and chemical substance usage.

The construction of the manufacturing unit commenced in April 2011 and has an initial manufacturing capacity of over 1,000,000 sets of air conditioners, 400,000 sets of washing machines and 25,000 sets of welding and cutting machines per annum. These environmentally friendly products will cater to the domestic market and the manufacturing unit will be providing employment to approximately 3,500 staff by 2018. Panasonic shall focus on making India a manufacturing hub and will export products from India to other markets like Middle East and Africa region. The percentage of export of products manufactured at Technopark will be 5% by 2013 and 20% by 2015.

At the factory inauguration, Panasonic India announced its commitment of making “environment” central to all business activities in line with the regional ‘eco ideas’. These actions have been divided as 1) ‘eco ideas’ for Lifestyle - achieving green lifestyles to enrich Indian people’s lives through activities promoting energy saving eco products, developing new comprehensive energy and environment solutions business and expanding Eco Learning Programme; 2) ‘eco ideas’ for Business-style - reducing environmental impact through Green manufacturing and CO₂ emissions reduction.

President Victor Yanukovich visiting India 

 India start his tour from  Sunday evening for a four-day state visit, in his sojourn the two countries  agree to raise bilateral cooperation ad to strengthen comprehensive partnership.India and Ukraine today signed five agreements to enhance cooperation including in areas of defence, Nuclear, Science and Technology and also to remove barriers in trade and commerce.

The agreements were signed after delegation level talks between visiting Ukraine President Victor Yanukovich and Prime Minister Manmohnan Singh at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi.

The pacts also include a Memorandum of understanding between the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board of India and the Ukranian Nuclear regulator for cooperation in nuclear safety, construction design, operation and nuclear waste management.

Mr. Yanukovich also held talks with External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on matter of mutual interest to both countries

Slogan 150 plus 30  v/s Crore 120 will be the carrier of future protest activities

 

The retail stakeholders of the Country will observe forthcoming 12th December as " Sankalp Divas" across the Country to take pledge to continue their nationwide movement against FDI in Retail trade under the umbrella of " Khudra FDI Virodhi Rashtriya Morcha".(KFVRM) The farmers, traders,labourers,hawkers,transporters,consumers, SMEs, self employed groups and other sectors of retail trade will assemble at Gandhi statute in their respective cities and will take a pledge to continue the national movement till next Lok Sabha elections in 2014. Mr. B. C. Bhartia, National President and Mr. Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) in a joint statement released here today said that the KFVRM has also appealed to all those political parties who have opposed FDI in Retail in Parliament to extend their support and join the protestors in their respective States, in a communication sent to Heads and prominent leaders of all such political parties.

The chain of such "Pledge Ceremony" will be led by a similar function at Rajghat, the Samadhi of Mahatama Gandhi in which leading politicians of different parties, scholars, economists, retail experts and other distinguished persons will join the pledge ceremony.To maintain the dignity of such a pledge a dummy of Mahatama Gandhi will recite the pledge followed by the people of different sections.

Both Mr. Bhartia and Mr. Khandelwal informed that a two days national convention of prominent trade leaders of different states has been convened by CAIT on forthcoming 16th and 17th December at Jaipur to take stock of the situation and to draw future plan of action.

They further said that now this movement will begin with a slogan "150 plus 30 v/s Crore 120". Spelling out the slogan they said that it is fight between 150 domestic corporate houses plus 30 MNCs v/s 120 crore people of the Country and its final verdict will come out from the ballot boxes of Lok Sabha elections in 2014. All those political parties who inspite of knowing the political manipulations of UPA, have supported the FDI in Retail, a pledge campaign will be launched across the Country for obtaining signatures from the people with a clear motto of not to vote for such ;parties. The manner in which the FDI is allowed by ignoring the ground realties of retaail trade and lofting wrong figures and facts by the Govt, a challange has been posed for the livelihood of crores of people in the Country. " We accept the challange and since this issue has been politicised by the Government, it will be replied properly with political ansawers.

Shri Naresh Sirohi, General Secretary, Bhartiya Kisan Morcha said that streaneous efforts are being made with farmer leaders in different states to ensure their maximum particiption in Sankalp function whereas on the other hand Mr. Saudan Singh of National Hawkers Federation has geared up team of hawkers to turn out in numbers in such programmes. The leaders of transport sector Mr. Pradeep Singhal, Shri Ashutosh & Shri Rajender Kapoor said that FDI in Retail Trade will adversaly affect the transport sector and as such intensive efforts are being made to include transporters in large numbers in pledge ceremony. The convenors of Laghu Udhyog Morcha, Shri Ved Prakash Gupta, Shri Ravindra Bansal and Shri M. L. Dhawan said that the notification of the Govt has wrecked the backbome of small industries whereas the prominent leader of Consumers movement in the Country Mr. Bejon Mishra said that the ultimate crackdown of FDI in Retail will be faced by consumers who will be forced to bow down against monopolistic prices of the global retailers.

KFVRM national coordinator Shri Pradeep Sharma and National Organiser Shri Satish Garg informed that on forthcoming 1st January,2013 a national convention leaders of nationwide organisations of farmers, hawkers,traders,consumers, SMEs, cooperative sector, self employed groups and other sections of retail sector will join the convention. दिल्ली विहिप ने किए अनेक हित चिन्तक सम्मेलन

नयी दिल्ली। दिसंबर 6, 2012. हिन्दू समाज पर हो रहे चहुं मुखी हमलों पर सख्त नाराजगी व्यक्त करते हुए विश्व हिन्दू परिषद के केन्द्रीय मंत्री डा सुरेन्द्र जैन ने कहा है कि चाहे बाबा अमर नाथ की यात्रा को षडयंत्र पूर्वक रोकने का मामला हो या हिन्दू मन्दिरों पर हमले, पाकिस्तान, बंग्लादेश व कश्मीर में हिन्दूओं का उत्पीडन हो या गौ हत्या व गंगा की अविरल धारा को रोकने का षडयंत्र, इन सभी मुद्दों पर हमारी सरकारें चुप क्यों हैं? विहिप दिल्ली के हितचिन्तक सम्मेलनों में बोलते हुए उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि मुस्लिम तुष्टीकरण की नीति ने देश की राजनीति को आज दूषित कर दिया है जिसे तुरन्त शुद्ध किए जाने की आवश्यकता है। अयोध्या के सदर्भ में उन्होंने कहा कि राम मन्दिर के बगल में या अयोध्या की सांस्कृतिक सीमा में इस्लामिक सेंटर बनाए जाने की किसी भी कोशिश को हिन्दू समाज एक चुनौती के रूप में देखता है।

विहिप दिल्ली के मीडिया प्रमुख श्री विनोद बंसल ने बताया कि आज दिल्ली के अनेक स्थानों का हितचिंतक सम्मेलनों काआयोजन किया गया जिनमें पश्चिमी दिल्ली के ए ब्लाक पश्चिम विहार स्थित गौरी शंकर मंदिर,  ककरोला के पीपल चौक पर, गीता विद्यालय कंझावला में, तथा पूर्वी पंजाबी बाग के आर्य समाज मंदिर में हुए कार्य क्रम प्रमुख थे। इन कार्यक्रमों में हिन्दू समाज के विविध वर्गों यथा जैन, बौध, सिख व वाल्मीकि समाज आदि के प्रमुख पदाधिकारियों के साथ-साथ क्षेत्र के 100 प्रमुख मन्दिरों की प्रबन्ध समिति के लोगों को उनकी उत्कृष्ट सेवा के लिए सम्मानित किया गया। इन सभी ने एक स्वर से न सिर्फ़ गौ हत्या बन्दी व हिन्दू मानबिन्दुओं पर हो रहे कुठाराघात के विरुद्ध आवाज बुलन्द की बल्कि अपने अपने स्तर पर सत्संगों व गौ सेवा हेतु गौ ग्रास सेवा केन्द्र चलाने पर सहमति व्यक्त की।

Vote counting is on way in Ghana's presidential and parliamentary polls.

Acra: Early partial results would appear to confirm expectations of a tight race between the two main candidates - incumbent President John Dramani Mahama and opposition leader Nana Akufo-Addo.
Ghana has in its credit of  five elections since military rule ended in 1992.

Political  analysts believe the stakes are higher than ever as commercial oil production that began in 2010 is expected to expand.Mr Mahama wants to spend Ghana's new wealth on large investments in infrastructure, while Mr Akufo-Addo is advocating free secondary education.
As a top exporter of cocoa and gold, Ghana is one of the world's fastest-growing economies.

Voting continued for a second day in some areas after breakdowns in a new biometric voting system meant many were unable to cast their ballots on Friday. Experts and observers say the election has been largely peaceful.Results had been expected as early as Sunday but it was unclear if the timeframe would remain after the extension.A second round is possible on 28 December if no candidate wins an outright majority.
Mr Mahama, speaking after casting his vote on Friday, said the elections would "go down in history as the best ever to be held in Ghana".

Mr Akufo-Addo expressed hope that the polls would remain peaceful.Mr Mahama took over as president after John Atta Mills died in July. His National Democratic Congress is also defending a narrow parliamentary majority. Media agencies

Italian Premier Mario Monti to resign

Premier Mario Monti told the Italian president Saturday he is resigning after Silvio Berlusconi's PDL party withdrew its support for the government  saying he can no longer govern after Silvio Berlusconi’s party withdrew  support. This paves the way for early elections a year after the unelected economist helped pull the country back from the brink of financial disaster.

Only hours earlier, Berlusconi announced he would run for a fourth term as premier, aiming for a dramatic comeback, considering the billionaire media baron quit in disgrace in November 2011.Former Prime Minister Mr Berlusconi said he will run for office again next year.He said Mr Monti's austerity policies had harmed Italy.Mr Berlusconi's People of Freedom party withdrew its support from the government on Thursday.

The office of President Giorgio Napolitano, who met for nearly two hours with Monti at the presidential palace, said the premier told the head of state that without the support of Berlusconi’s party, “he cannot further carry out his mandate, and consequently made clear his intention to resign” once Parliament passes a crucial budget bill soon.

Political turmoil in Italy, mired in recession and trying to escape the eurozone sovereign debt crisis, could spook financial markets, which, with Monti at the helm, had steadily regained faith in the country’s ability to honor its debts.

Standard & Poor’s rating agency, indicating on Friday that it could lower Italy’s rating if the recession endures well into 2013, cited “uncertainty” over whether the next Italian government could stay the tough course. Media agencies

5th Annual Urban Mobility Conference cum Exhibition  is held from December 5th to 8th at the Manekshaw Centre at Dhaula Kuan Delhi. The event is sponsored by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India to disseminate up to date information on urban transport to City and State Government officials. Local and international experts are invited to present case studies on various topics of current interest. Industry participates in the exhibition. The theme this year is 'Smart Mobility' with sub-themes (two parallel sessions) as follow:

• Impact of Transport on Environment and Mitigation Technologies

The objective to provide an opportunity for City and state officials, manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders to interact with each other. A large number of decision makers and officials from Cities and States attend the event. At the 2010 and 2011 event, 3rd and 4th in the series, nearly 1000 delegates and 30 Exhibitors participated. The theme this year ‘Smart Mobility’. The event includes a Research symposium on day 1, 12 technical sessions, 12 round table issue based discussions and 3 Plenary sessions.

The Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference and Expo is an annual event with the overarching theme, which runs across all the aspects of ‘ urban Mobility’ and is hosted by the Institute of Urban Transport (India) under the aegis of Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.  This conference main aim is bring together urban transport professional, officials and students in the country as well as international experts to enable them to share views and to share their experiences. This is marked by interactions and discussions around case studies the cities, whose professionals and student attend conference, in keeping themselves up to date with best live transport practices and to carry ideas to develop sustainable transport practices in projects and students.> Increase motorization rate, pressure is building up on transport system of all the cities-congestion, air & noise pollution; traffic fatalities are deeply threatening the quality of life in Indian cities.
