VANI will hold the National Convention 2012 (March 27-28, Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, New Delhi) to facilitate a dialogue within the voluntary sector. Coming
together, beyond our geographical and thematic areas, is the need of
the hour to put up a collective front to address these issues. VANI has
already begun to act in this direction. It had convened a conclave of
some leaders from the voluntary sector and we had collectively put up a
case against the Income Tax Department serving notices to voluntary
organizations. We are yet to see its impact. However, we have still a
long way to go to articulate ourselves as a common entity to secure the
democratic space that we require to operate as efficiently as possible.
