They have been nominated for seven honours in total, including album of the year for ‘The Heist’.
Grammys 2014 kicked off with a scintillating performance by Beyonce and Jay Z.
The couple selected a duet-track from Beyonce’s last album, ‘Drunk in Love’ for their performance. A black lingerie-clad Beyonce, 32, started the show as she straddled a chair, surrounded by smoke.

Bruno Mars’ ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ took home the best pop vocal album.
Other works in the category included ‘Paradise’ by Lana Del Rey, ‘Pure Heroine’ by Lorde, ‘Blurred Lines’ by Robin Thicke and ‘The 20/20 Experience – The Complete Experience’ by Justin Timberlake.
Best country album award went to Kacey Musgraves for her ‘Same Trailer Different Park’. The awards show was hosted by LL Cool J.

EGoM approves SUC at 5% for new spectrumUpdated on : 27-01-2014 02:08 PM
The Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) on Monday approved a spectrum usage charge (SUC) of 5 percent of the annual gross revenue on all the new airwaves acquired in auction.
Existing telecom operators will have to pay the weighted average of their existing SUC, and 5 per cent if they acquire new spectrum.
“For all new spectrum, which will be sold, it will be 5 per cent but it will be charged at weighted average. There is no protection of revenue. In this process if government losses some revenue, doesn’t matter. Ultimately consumers have to be benefited,” Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal told reporters in New Delhi on Monday.
He added the decision will go to Cabinet for final approval.
The SUC for broadband wireless access (BWA) spectrum will continue to remain at 1 per cent as the government has not amended the existing contractual obligation.
However, they will have to pay a SUC of 5 per cent for the new airwaves they acquire.
These companies have to report separately the revenue earned from BWA airwaves and new spectrum.
“Ultimately it is consumers who need to benefit. Big players (charges) will come down. It will not affect new players,” Sibal said.
Government, at present, gets pan India average SUC of 4.8 per cent on airwaves allocated till date which has now been fixed at 5 per cent. Hence, there will be no adverse impact on existing revenue, official sources said.
The Telecom Commission has recommended three options to the EGoM headed by Finance Minister P Chidambaram a levy of 3 per cent with weighted average, 5 per cent with weighted average and continuation of the existing regime.
GSM firms such as Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular have locked horns with Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio Infocomm following the Trai’s recommendation of a uniform SUC.
The charge is levied annually by the government as a percentage of revenue earned from telecom services.
It currently ranges from 3 to 8 per cent for mobile operators, while for firms with Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum such as those of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd and Tikona, the fee is 1 per cent.
“Rationalisation of issue, Nobody should be a loser,” Sibal said, adding,”More investment is sector means more service and lower tariffs for consumers.”
Major telecom operators including Airtel and Vodafone had written to the Department of Telecom to take a call on SUC before auction starts on 3rd February.

Egypt to hold presidential election first: Mansour

Egypt to hold presidential election first: Mansour
Egypt will hold a presidential election before parliamentary polls this year, interim President Adly Mansour said today, a move that could pave the way for the swift election of army chief Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
“I have carried out several dialogues with political groups, which saw a majority in favour of holding presidential elections first,” Mansour said in a televised address.
“And I have amended the roadmap to meet their demands.” A political roadmap, laid down after the army ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July last year, called for parliamentary elections first.
But many political parties said they would not be ready for a legislative vote this spring.
The change is likely to benefit powerful army chief el-Sisi, also the defence minister, who has said he would stand in the polls if there is a “popular demand”.
Mansour did not announce a date for the vote, a task that falls to the High Elections Commission.
It must be held no less than 90 days after the adoption of the new constitution earlier this month, which will require a ballot before mid-April.
Several legislative amendments to the law regulating exercise of political rights and elections are also expected in accordance with the provisions of the new constitution.
The President also said he would increase the number of courts dealing with terrorism charges to “bring perpetrators to justice swiftly”. “We’re determined, both the people and the state, to root out terrorism…We will not hesitate to take any extraordinary measures if necessary,” he said.
Egypt has witnessed a steep rise in violence, with blasts now a regular occurrence, since the army toppled Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood amid mass rallies against his one year turbulent rule.
Security forces have blamed Islamist elements for a series of blasts and violence and intensified a crackdown on them.
The President’s comments came after 49 people were killed and 247 injured in violence on the third anniversary of the 2011 uprising which ended the three-decade-long autocratic regime of Hosni Mubarak.
Mansour also said he had urged the prosecutor-general to look into the status of those being detained pending investigation, university students in particular.

Wawrinka stuns injured Nadal to win Aussie Open

Wawrinka stuns injured Nadal to win Aussie OpenUpdated on : 26-01-2014 09:19 PM
Switzerland’s Stanislas Wawrinka claimed his first Grand Slam title in dramatic fashion on Sunday when he upset injury-troubled world number one Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open final.
The eighth seed roared through the first two sets and overcame the distraction of a back injury to Nadal, and then the loss of the third set, to take it 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in two hours 21 minutes.
Nadal, who was chasing his 14th major title, looked as if might pull out with the back injury but he fought back to take the third set and force the match into a fourth set.
It was a stunning win for Wawrinka, who had not beaten Nadal in their previous 12 matches as he rallied to win the fourth set and take the championship.
Wawrinka began nervelessly and after holding his opening two service games for the loss of only two points he made the first move in the final, breaking Nadal in the fourth game.
The Spaniard played a poor drop-shot which was followed by a double-fault to open the door for Wawrinka.
The Swiss again had a break point in Nadal’s next service game as he held his own serves without undue pressure.
But he was three break points down serving out for his first ever set against Nadal, only to win the next five points with some magnificent serves to go one set up in 37 minutes.
Fresh from his psychological breakthrough, Wawrinka broke Nadal to love in the opening game of the second with with a cracking backhand return winner.
The Swiss was in the zone, reeling off 12 consecutive points against the non-plussed Nadal, who received a time violation warning for slow play between points.
Nadal’s problems mounted when he grabbed his back after playing a forehand. He called for the trainer at the next changeover and went off the court for a medical timeout at 2-1 in the second set.

Binny calls of dharna

DSCN3194
AAP MLA Vinod Kumar Binny on Monday called off his dharna against Arvind Kejriwal government after just four hours but threatened to launch a major stir if his demands, including passage of Janlokpal bill, are not met in 10 days.
A day after he was thrown out of Aam Admi Party, the rebel MLA said he will continue support to the government on “public-related” issues and was withdrawing his stir for now as Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and Anna Hazare had suggested that “some days” should be given to the AAP government to fulfil promises made by it during the Delhi Assembly election.

“If Kejriwal government fails to bring Anna’s Janlokpal Bill in the given time, I would begin protest across the country,” Binny told reporters at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
He also demanded immediate setting up of ‘Mahila Surksha Dal’ and 700 litres of free water to residents along with reduction in electricity bills by upto half as Kejriwal promised during election.
“If AAP government fails to meet these three demands in the next ten days, I will begin country-wide agitation from February 6 next month,” he said.
“I am not withdrawing my support from the AAP-led government. I am giving support to the government on the public-related issues,” he added.
The MLA began his protest at Jantar Mantar at noon and called it off nearly four hours later Asked why he he was withdrawing his dharna on the first day, Binny told reporters that the LG and Hazare had suggested to him that “some days should be given to the AAP-led government so that he (Kejriwal) could work on public-related issues”.
“Women security is the first priority of mine. Before forming government, Kejriwal had said that he would form ‘Mahila Suraksha Dal’ to ensure women security in the Delhi, but he is running away from this promise,” Binny alleged.
Earlier, launching a blistering attack on AAP, he accused Kejriwal of acting like a dictator.
He met the Delhi Lt Governor to take up issues which have not been addressed by the Kejriwal government and demanded action against controversial Law Minister Somnath Bharti.<

Leaders of India and Japan  to discuss plans for Japan’s Maritime Self-Defense Force and the Indian Navy to hold their 3rd joint exercise in waters near Japan. Abe promise two billion dollars in loans to build a subway line and other projects.
On backdrop of Abe visit, Gautam Bambawale, head of the Indian Foreign Ministry’s East Asian affairs bureau, held a news conference on Thursday. The briefing came two days before Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is due to visit India. Abe will be the first Japanese prime minister invited as a guest of honor to India’s Republic Day ceremony. AAP call DCW an associate of Congress

DCW appears to be clearly working on a political agenda under its current chairperson. Her public statements make it clear that she is speaking the language of her political masters, which is not in keeping with the dignified post she holds.
The Aam Aadmi Party takes strong exceptions to her utterances and demands that the Delhi government should look into the state of affairs of the commission.
The attempts to browbeat the lawyers representing the Malviya Nagar MLA and Delhi law minister Somnath Bharti by the commission chairperson are condemnable.
Mr Bharti through his lawyers wanted to inform the DCW that he will
appear before the commission at a later date.
This was done by Mr Bharti despite the fact that the summons by the
DCW were sent to him on wrong addresses, but showing full respect for
the commission he decided to be represented before it.
The attempts by the DCW chairperson, who is a former MLA of the
Congress party, to create a controversy on the issue clearly showed her real
intentions.
How far is it justified to send summons on wrong addresses repeatedly in a hurry and make public statements about them ?
It appears that the DCW chairperson acted on a well thought out plan
to divert attention from the real issues facing the residents of Khirki
Extension. The women from that area have already submitted their
grievances before the DCW and the AAP demands justice on the issue.

Ukraine fresh violence

25 01 2014

Anti-government protesters gather outside the regional administration headquarters as they attempt to take over during a rally in the town of Chernivtsi in southwestern Ukraine, January 25, 2014 (Reuters / Stringer)

President Yanukovich has appointed Vladimir Makeenko the head of Kiev City Council. Makeenko previously was the chief of the procedure committee of the country’s parliament, the Rada. In a separate decree, Yanukovich dismissed the former city council head, Alexander Popov, who is currently under investigation. Ukraine, media reports of the main energy ministry building in central Kiev being besieged and more barricades being erected in the streets.According to the energy minister, Eduard Stavytsky, about 100 protesers attempted to seize control of his ministry. “I went to them and said that if they did not peacefully leave the building then the whole energy system of Ukraine could collapse,” said Stavytsky.
Reporting from Kiev, Al Jazeera’s reports that the central government “has not just been losing ground, it has been losing people. A good part of the presidential press service has resigned”.The siege comes a day after the president, Viktor Yanukovic, offered concessions to protesters, including changes in government ministers and the amendment sweeping anti-protest laws rammed through parliament last week.”What the president has suggested is a cabinet reshuffle, and the prime minister has called the Swiss president to mediate,” said Spicer.
The  renewed activity on the streets of the capital, and the spread of protests to the provinces, appear to confirm a popular rejection of his terms. The protests began in November after Yanukovich spurred an association agreement with the European Union in favour of forging closer ties with Russia, are the biggest demonstrations since the 2004-5 Orange Revolution which denied Yanukovich his first bid at the presidency.

Experts feel that demonstrations started peacefully in central Kiev couple of months ago, but have been broken up violently by police at times, and in the past week, protesters have set up barricades near Dynamo Kiev football stadium where they hurl Molotov cocktails and burn tyres.

Police have responded with stun grenades and rubber bullets, with half a dozen people said to have been killed in the fighting.

‘One Khas Man Arvind’s’, Rest Aam Aadmi Party

DSCN2738

25 01 2014
In one of the recent press conference of AAP ,we met Prashant Bhushan the chief architect of AAP the SC lawyer and congratulated him to be face of the Delhi for his party historical placement. With humility ensemble emanating Prashant we asked Sir how far you and your party is ready to take up General Election and do you have so many people for this event and what is criteria for selection. His answer full of wisdom said we look for 50 nos this time and may contest 200 LS. On criteria to come to our fold is that He or She must listen to us and be versatile not adamant in his her outlook.
‘One  Khas  Man Arvind’s’,  Rest Aam Aadmi Part, Khas man is people facing to make it people facing the man in slipper slips in one of the seminar in Mumbai in the month of April 2012 saying all is done but people are not facing Arvind. There after making solid deal with reputed PR in India and abroad to maket the name Arvind the only person in this country will call himself the only man of integrity to give nation “Corruption free India”, by passing Lokpal and taking stern actions against the guilty and offenders. He  further named bigwigs corrupt action holding press briefing. After getting the BJP call to give the Delhi people 33% reduction in electric bills , Arvind’s  AAP declared 50% reduction in electric bills, Delhi voters with such fancy move came forward and put AAP on political pedestal in Delhi.
But the honest man Arvind the one man party with selected few, forgot that he has to run his political out fit in democracy but brought his NGO employees at every nodal platform of the AAP. His word is seal and rest can feel.
So as the AAP put his first step out the first causality is public clash of Arvind the big boss with AAP MLA from Laxmi Nagar, Vinod Binny, who was called greedyfor post  by Arvind.Vinod Kumar Binny many times  clarified but AAP sent show cause for his utterances in public, Binny  say [remarks show that] there’s no difference between his party and other parties; AAP is anti OBCs. Uddhav Thackeray hits out at Arvind Kejriwal, calls him mad, circus ringmaster.
His idea of Lokpal is that he brings his own party workers his employees  to observe his own action what a pity on boss thinking. Lokpal or an observers or an ombudsman is to be appointed by neutral person and should be the most neutral person not to be related as the ipso-facto acts as dejure and not defacto.
Those who talks of sovereignty is asked to leave the party many of his elected representatives has said on the full glare of media that Arvind taste is to give orders and no suggestion if any suggestion has to be given he orders his website takes care of suggestion he does not like to listen to any suggestion. Great arrogance from the first day as he step in public welfare. Any member who has given substantial amount of donation to the party gets ignore in return from Arvind so the workers say the such high donation is shear waste of money.
Media is tackled by Arvind’s PR and BPO of repute not necessary from India. Arvind days after thanking media for AAP win in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal and Somnath Bharti now feel press is soldthey can say so as they have solid PR and BPO to take care about their songs in public domain and E channels enjoy too.
Don’t believe, AAP people participation act is just an act, their referendum, their declarations through their sites and otherwise are all cooked to please themselves and rest is their promotional agency takes care. How far this marketing business shall go is foretold by an astrologer who said Arvind has bad planet in second house and Mar in seventh house could take toll of his management and good planning.  His some action would be laudable because  his greed to to be one man showmanship could bring some welfare to remain in power and this competition for which he shall be remembered.
AAP tweets on facebook – Media is being paid to write against AAP, claims Kejriwal. Arvind does not like he is criticized by media in any way.The self explanatory remark on twitter of Sanjay Singh is on its way,  Media’s criticism should be fair criticism and not one sided: Sanjay Singh (AAP) Another tweets say,Media has supported us in the past, but introspection needed as to why it has started maligning AAP’s image over last few days-Ashutosh, AAP- This is Most promising remark as each one knows where is his weakness just little contemplation , Righteousness is not in a drama but is in its – self -effulgence.
A Delhi High Court on Friday declined stay on the Delhi government’s order calling for an audit of power distribution companies. The court asked the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) to not submit its final report till the case is heard. The apex court also directed the power companies to cooperate fully with the audit.However, the power companies allege that the audit is a political ploy and that the order was passed with ‘malice on law’ without giving the DistComs an opportunity to be heard. The companies also argued that under the Electricity Act 2003, the LG should have initiated the file instead of agreeing with the government decision.Earlier in the day, appearing for the power distribution companies of Delhi, senior lawyer and BJP leader Harish Salve called the AAP government’s order for an audit of these companies a ‘shaikh chilli order’ made without application of mind.
In a major relief to over one lakh contractual workers, the government also put a stop on removal of temporary employees working in various departments till the process of recruitment based on new criteria is not completed. The high-level 13-member committee is being headed by Chief Secretary S K Srivastava and comprises of two retired IAS officers, Prakash Chandra and Prafful Karketa, besides secretaries of finance, law and urban development departments among others. The committee has been given the responsibility formulate the policy in this regard within one month.
“Jan Lokpal Bills broad contours have been finalized, and will be taken up in the cabinet early next week. The Chief Minister office will be under the Jan Lokapal Bill,” Arvind Kejriwal.

tourism department at 3 PM on Friday, which was to be followed by a
function organized by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi at 4 PM.
Both the programmes had been scheduled much in advance and therefore,
Mr Bharti through his lawyers wanted to inform the DCW that he will
appear before the commission at a later date.
This was done by Mr Bharti despite the fact that the summons by the
DCW were sent to him on wrong addresses, but showing full respect for
the commission he decided to be represented before it.
The attempts by the DCW chairperson, who is a former MLA of the
Congress party, to create a controversy on the issue clearly shows her
political intentions.
It appears that the DCW chairperson acted on a well thought out plan
of browbeating the lawyers representing Mr Bharti in order to divert
attention from the real issues facing the residents of Khirki
Extension. The women from that area have already submitted their
grievances before the DCW and the AAP demands justice on the issue.
