Indian Confederation of Indigenous and Tribal People’s (ICITP) Representatives of 310 tribal organizations from across the country, including the NDFB (Progressive), North East Zonal  President Jebra Ram Muchahary, today held a press conference in New Delhi at Press Club of India briefing  on subject of their demand  that the next President of India ought to be from tribal community.He said that the Scheduled Tribes comprises of nearly 8% of the population which comes to about 85-90 million people,so far no one from them has become the president of India or the prime Minister.Others minorities for example  SC/Muslim/Sikh have  become President,Prime Minister,Chief Justice and Generals but no Scheduled Tribe has held these positions.natural justice demands that the next President of India be a scheduled Tribe.
Natural Justice demands in consonance with the Constitution of our country which give equal rights to all communities demands that the next President of India be from a Scheduled Tribe.He further addressed,On Tribal becoming the President,  the tribal community will feel aligned with mainstream find their demands will be well taken care of and the national problem of civil disorder emanating  the ongoing problems of Maoist in many tribal districts  would be diluted.
NDFB (P) general secretary Gobinda Basumatary said in the last sixty-five years, the country has got a president from the Scheduled Caste, Muslim community and the Sikh community, besides the dominant class.
“But, we are yet to get one from the Adivasi community. We have impressed upon Rahul Gandhi on the need to have a President from the community,” Basumatary said to media at Press club of India New Delhi. He said the eight-member delegation comprised representatives from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal, besides Assam,on Tuesday met Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi, reiterating their demand to elect an ‘indigenous tribal’ as the country’s next president
Indian Confederation of Indigenous and Tribal People’s (ICITP) North East zonal president Mr Jebra Ram Muchahary said Gandhi told the delegation that the “idea was excellent”. “Though we did not want to name anyone, Gandhi asked us our choice. We referred the name of Meghalaya Governor Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary as we think he is the most eligible person from the community in the Northeast. But we also added that the choice was with the Congress, if they considered anyone else better,” Muchahary said.
 He said the tribal organisations have met and submitted memorandums to BJP leaders LK Advani, Sushma Swaraj, BSP supremo Mayawati and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, besides other senior political leaders seeking their endorsement to their demand. The ICITP had adopted a resolution in February 21 resolution putting forth the demand for a tribal President. Sources say some influential tribal MPs are also backing the demand. The ICITP had earlier sent a representation to Congress president Sonia Gandhi underling the need for a tribal President.
“We, as the weakest sections of the society, have been simply neglected, suppressed, oppressed, marginalised, exploited and deprived for so long though we have been contributing in the nation building,” the ICITP had said in a letter to Gandhi.
Mr Jebra Ram informed the media that about 53 MP’s presently are the total strength of the tribal  community in both house.When Media asked for their consensus on the name of Mr P A Sangma, Jebra said,” we would be delighted” but tribal bodies impressed upon and said that if Mooshahary is elected as the country’s 14th President, “the Adivasis of India will feel that justices are beginning to be delivered by the privileged society.”

Appeal to all Political Leaders of India for sponsoring a Tribal candidate for the 13th President of India

        Sir/Madam we, for and on behalf of the Indian Confederation of Indigenous and Tribal Peoples (ICITP) only apex national umbrella organization of more than 310 Tribal organizations of India representing the 700 Tribal Communities (Adivasis) of India would like to draw your humble attention to the following facts for your kind consideration and necessary action.

       As you are aware of the fact that we the Adivasis (The Indigenous and Tribal Peoples) are the sons of the soil in this country and the custodians of life sustaining resources, values, rich culture and traditions.

        We are aware of the fact that Indian political leaders including you are busy looking for a suitable candidate for the forthcoming 13th Presidential Election for the nation.  Within the period of sixty five years of independent India, apart from the dominant society, three terms went to the Muslim minority, one term to the Sikh minority and one term to the Scheduled Caste (S.C.) but unfortunately the people in India could never found President, Vice President or Prime Minister from the weakest section of the society particularly the Adivasis (Indigenous and Tribal Peoples) of this country. We as the weakest section of the society in India have been simply neglected, suppressed, oppressed, marginalized, exploited and deprived for so long though they have been contributing equally in the Nation building processes. Under these circumstances, the following questions arise:

• Are we, the Adivasis (The Indigenous and Tribal Peoples) of India are regarded as equal citizen or as the 2nd class citizen in this country? 

• Does the privileged society still think that the Adivasis (The Indigenous and Tribal Peoples) in India are not capable of serving the nation in such capacities as mentioned above? or

• Is it because the Adivasis (The Indigenous and Tribal Peoples) do not have any national political affiliation to facilitate or lobby for these processes?

            We strongly feel that the national political parties and the politicians in India must rethink to give a chance to the capable personalities belonging to the Adivasis, the weakest section of the Indian Society, who are otherwise equally competent with the privileged society for these top posts to serve the nation.  Unfortunately, the Adivasis (The Indigenous and Tribal Peoples) in India have been mere colonized, dominated, exploited, suppressed, oppressed and politically marginalized by the privileged society in every respect. We also strongly feel that our national political leaders have been talking about the reservation for minorities and underprivileged to win the hearts of the grassroots to buy votes to remain in power but utterly failed to understand the sentiments, the voices and ordeals of millions of the Adivasis (The Indigenous and Tribal Peoples) of India.

            The Indian Confederation of Indigenous and Tribal Peoples (ICITP) the only apex body of the Indigenous and Tribal Peoples of India, therefore would like to appeal to all the political parties and political leaders to seriously consider nominating the 13th President of the nation from the Adivasis (The Indigenous and Tribal Peoples) to prove your commitments to the Constitution of India that we all are equal citizen in practice on the ground reality.

            In this connection, ICITP on behalf of the Adivasis (The Indigenous and Tribal Peoples) of India would like to appeal your honour to sponsor nominating an appropriate Senior Adivasi Ratna Shri Ranjit Shekar Mooshahary, the Governor of Meghalaya, Shillong, who is an honest, most competent and popular Adivasi son of this country as a consensus candidate to the post of the President of India for the 13th President's election from your UPA-II. If this is fulfilled, the Adivasis (The Indigenous and Tribal Peoples) of India will feel that justices are beginning to be delivered by the privileged society, which will surely assuage the feeling of long neglect and discrimination.

            Further, considering the UN 2nd decades of the World Indigenous Peoples, this will raise credential of Indian Nation in the eyes of the International Community.

            That Sir/Madam, we are aware of the fact that for this, India needs strong political will and courage and this is only possible if you are taking up the matter.

            Looking forward to seeing your just, exemplarily and historic decision in the history of Indian politics and a strong political will and fulfilment of your shared responsibilities towards the constitutional safeguard and upliftment of weakest section of the people, particularly the Adivasis (The Indigenous and Tribal Peoples) of this country.

        नई दिल्ली मई 09, 2012| हज़ सब्सिडी पर सर्वोच्च न्यायालय का निर्णय सरकार की मुस्लिम तुष्टीकरण की नीतियों पर गहरा तमाचा है। विहिप दिल्ली के महामंत्री श्री सत्येन्द्र मोहन ने देश की सरकारों को नसीहत दी है कि इस निर्णय के बाद वे अपनी मुस्लिम तुष्टीकरण नीतियों पर पुनर्विचार करें तथा भारत के संविधान की मूल भावना को समझते हुए धार्मिक आधार पर किसी भी प्रकार आरक्षण या अन्य भेद भाव को रोकें।

विहिप दिल्ली के झण्डेवालान स्थित कार्यालय में आज हुई एक बैठक के बाद मीडिया प्रमुख श्री विनोद बंसल ने बताया कि विहिप के प्रान्त महामंत्री ने दिल्ली सरकार तथा उसके अल्पसंख्यक आयोग द्वारा मुसलिम युवकों को विना गारंटी लोन दिये जाने तथा मदरसों के आधुनिकीकरण हेतु सरकारी पैसा दिए जाने के खिलाफ़ भी चेताया है। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि एक ओर केन्द्र सरकार म्यान्मार से आए हजारों मुस्लिम शरणार्थियों को दिल्ली में बसाने की अनुमति दे चुकी है जबकि गत छ: माह से दर-दर की ठोकरें खा रहे पाकिस्तान से अपनी जान बचाकर आए मात्र 150 हिन्दुओं को बार-बार पाकिस्तान बापस भेजने की धमकी दे रही है। उन्होंने पूछा कि क्या इसी को सैक्यूलरिज्म कहा जाता है? विहिप ने मांग की है कि केन्द्र सहित देश की सभी सरकारें धार्मिक आधार पर देश की जनता के साथ किसी भी प्रकार के भेदभाव को रोकें तथा देशवासियों की मेहनत की कमाई से दिए गए टैक्स का दुरुपयोग सिर्फ़ अपने वोट बैंक को साधने में न करें अन्यथा देश का हिन्दू समाज चुप नहीं बैठेगा।

Removal of Protectionist Trade Barriers by SAFTA Nations

 This issue is being discussed in the trade related meetings of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries. There is a general consensus amongst the SAFTA member countries to liberalize the SAFTA trading arrangements and to remove the trade barriers. This progress is ongoing in consultation with the stakeholders.

This information was given by Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia , Minister of State for Commerce & Industry in written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.

Books will be given to the students along with their class-12 result

Chief Minister Narendra Modi today released two books published by the state’s education department on the career options and opportunities available after class-12 Science and General streams.

The books will be given to the students along with their class-12 results, said Education Minister Ramanlal Vora.

The book for the Science stream lists career options available in engineering (degree/diploma), pharmacy (degree/diploma), medical, paramedical, architecture, designing, fashion technology, disaster management, agriculture, veterinary, petroleum, dairy technology management, healthcare, clinical research and nutrition among others. The book also give useful details related to different institutes, admission procedure, available seats, fee structure, schemes for scholarship and financial assistance, education loans and important websites.

The book for the General stream gives details of the options such as general nursing, education, fashion technology, designing, footwear, film and television, music, drama, CA and CS among others. Usually, the General stream students have an impression that they can only opt for BA or B.Com courses, but in this book they will be able to explore a host of career options.         

The Chief Minister congratulated the Education department for coming out with such useful publications for students. The scope of career opportunities has greatly expanded with Gujarat’s all-round development, he said. He exuded faith that the books will prove useful to the students and parents.

Gandhinagar, Tuesday: A delegation of Global auto sector major Hollingsworth and Vose Group led by their chief executive officer Wall Hollingsworth during his meeting with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi  here today expressed willingness to set up an automobile filter manufacturing plant in the state.

The USD 30-million project is proposed to be the company's biggest automobile filter manufacturing unit in India. It is expected to be commissioned by 2013.

The delegation was reportedly impressed by Gujarat Government's proactive governance and progressive policies.

Why premature closing of Veer Shivaji?
Is it TRP or external pressure, asks VHP

New Delhi, May 8, 2012. The very popular patriotic serial “Veer
Shivaji” is going to be closed by the end of month i.e. very much
before its schedule. Citing resentment among the viewers following the
premature closing of the serial, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad has asked
the Colors, the channel showing the serial, to clarify whether
the-premature closing is on the behest of TRP or due to any external
pressure. The Secretary General of VHP Delhi Shri Satyendra Mohan
urged the channel to continue the popular serial as it is spreading
the message of patriotism, culture and dharma. Shivaji’s commitment to
swaraj is now need of the hour and the countrymen are getting
inspiration from it.
“We have sent a letter to the Channel Head to continue the serial in
the national interest”, said Shri Vinod Bansal, the media chief of
VHP, Delhi. “In our letter signed by the secretary general VHP Delhi
we have written that if the Channel is going to sacrifice such a
patriotic serial in the name of TRP, it will never be justified”, he
added.
It is to be noted that once a chart burner for the channel, the
historical serial Veer Shivaji is going to be closed prior to its
schedule. It is the decision of the Channel. The serial, it is heared,
will breathe its last by the end of May. While the production house
and its viewers want a logical end, the decision of the Channel is
said to have been taken keeping in mind the dipping ratings of the
show.

 Jaipur, May 8, 2012: Dayal Singh of Chandigarh shot a four under 66 to take the first round lead in the PGTI Feeder Tour event being played at the Rambagh Golf Club in Jaipur. Vishwa Vijoyendra Narayan of Bangalore, Lucknow’s Sanjay Kumar and Ramesh Kumar of Faridabad are in tied second with matching scores of two under 68.

Dayal Singh’s four under 66 included an eagle on the eighth, birdies on the third, sixth, 14^th and a bogey on the 11^th.

Dayal Singh, who hails from the Chandigarh Golf Club, said, “I hit some good drives today and also grabbed all my opportunities on the greens. It’s important to hit maximum fairways on this course and that’s what I’ll be focusing on for the rest of the tournament.”

Vishwa Vijoyendra Narayan, Sanjay Kumar and Ramesh Kumar are two strokes behind the leader in joint second.The Jaipur trio of Vishal Singh, Yogendra Kumawat and Mahesh Yadav are in tied fifth place along with five other golfers at one under 69.

Although there are currently 75 large-scale, fully integrated carbon capture and storage projects in 17 countries at various stages of development, only eight are operational—-a figure that has not changed since 2009. Carbon capture and storage, more commonly known as CCS, refers to the technology that attempts to capture carbon dioxide from a human-created source—-often industry and power generation systems—-and then store it in permanent geologic reservoirs so that it never enters the atmosphere. The United States is the leading funder of large-scale CCS projects, followed by the European Union and Canada. The new Worldwatch report, part of the Institute’s Vital Signs Online series analyzing key global trends, discusses a variety of new CCS projects and facilities throughout the world. Among these is the Century Plant in the United States, which began operating in 2010.  ”Although CCS technology has the potential to significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions—-particularly when used in greenhouse gas-intensive coal plants—-developing the CCS sector to the point that it can make a serious contribution to emissions reduction will require large-scale investment,” said report author and Worldwatch Sustainable Energy Fellow, Matthew Lucky. ”Capacity will have to be increased several times over before CCS can begin to make a dent in global emissions.” Currently, the storage capacity of all active and planned large-scale CCS projects is equivalent to only about 0.5 percent of the emissions from energy production in 2010.  The prospects for future development and application of CCS technology will be influenced by a variety of factors, according to the report. This March, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency proposed regulations on carbon dioxide emissions from power plants. As a result, U.S. power producers would soon be unable to build traditional coal plants without carbon-control capabilities (including CCS). The technology will likely become increasingly important as power producers adjust to the new regulations.  Globally, an international regulatory framework for CCS is developing slowly, and the technology has been factored into international climate negotiations. Its classification as a Clean Development Mechanism—-a measure created through the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change that allows industrialized countries to gain credit for emissions reductions they achieve through funding development projects in developing countries—-has raised objections, however, from those who argue that it risks prolonging the use of carbon-intensive industries.  ”CCS technology is worth exploring as one of a large array of potential strategies for slowing the buildup of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere,” said Worldwatch President Robert Engelman. “But as this report demonstrates, right now there’s little progress in realizing this potential. A technology capable of permanently sequestering large amounts of carbon will be expensive, and so far the world’s markets and governments haven’t assigned much value to carbon or to the prevention of human-caused climate change. Ultimately, that will be needed for real progress in CCS development and implementation.”  Further highlights: There are now seven large-scale CCS plants under construction worldwide, bringing the total annual storage capacity of plants either operating or under construction to nearly 35 million tons of carbon dioxide a year. According to the International Energy Agency, an additional $2.5-3 trillion will need to be invested in CCS between 2010 and 2050 in order to halve global greenhouse gas emissions by mid-century. On average, $5-6.5 billion a year will need to be invested in CCS globally until 2020 for the development of this technology. About 76 percent of global government funding for large-scale CCS has been allocated to power generation projects.

Greek conservatives bid failed to form a government, pushing political opportunity for anti-austerity leftists to try to work together a coalition despite Germany and EU warnings the country must stick to its bailout deal. Leader of Greece’s New Democracy Party says he has given up hope of forming a coalition government led by his party.Antonis Samaras made the announcement on Monday.Samaras was rebuffed by Syriza and the small Democratic Left group, while the nationalist Independent Greeks and the Communist party refused to even meet with him.Third-place socialist PASOK, formerly in a coalition with New Democracy, agreed to cooperate but only if the leftists also joined.
Probability to build a ruling coalition will now pass to Alexis Tsipras, leader of the Radical Left Coalition. But he has already vowed only to work with some of the left-wing parties, making a parliamentary majority unlikely. On Tsipras fails, the PASOK party will be handed the chance to build a coalition.
New Democracy
Official results showed conservative New Democracy came first with 18.8 per cent and 108 of Parliament’s 300 seats. “I understand the rage of the people, but our party will not leave Greece ungoverned,” said Samaras, who backs Greece’s bailout commitments for austerity but has called for some changes to the bailout plan.
Syriza party
In second place came the leftist, anti-austerity Syriza party, with 16.6 per cent of the vote and 51 seats, more than tripling its 2009 showing.
 PASOK
Once strong PASOK was reduced to third place, its vote more than halved to 13.3 per cent, or 41 seats,the voters’ deserting it for having pushed through punishing public spending cuts. Election  fragmented the political landscape, with voters sending at least seven parties to parliament, two more than previously.

Newcomers is the neo-Nazi Hryssi Avgi (Golden Dawn), breaking into parliament for the first time in nearly 40 years. Its 6.9 per cent of the vote should give it 21 deputies, according to the latest ministry figures.

With almost all the votes counted, speaker of the parliament Philippos Petsalnikos on Monday announced the final results. He said the New Democracy party and its partner PASOK won 149 seats, 2 short of a majority in the 300-member parliament.
Opposition parties made big gains with their objections to deficit-cutting policies. The Radical Left Coalition increased the number of seats it has by about 5 times and came in second.
Some voters in the capital Athens have expressed concerns about a power vacuum forming, while others have welcomed the gains by the opposition bloc.
New Democracy has won the most votes and will start negotiations to form a coalition.
Even if the party can form a coalition, the new government may have to review the austerity measures. If negotiations become bogged down, the country may have to hold a fresh election.
  When none of the parties can form a governing alliance,  a snap election , which could reignite concerns over Europe’s credit crisis:
 European Union has called for Greece to form a stable government as soon as possible to ease mounting concerns about the implementation of austerity measures.Greece’s ruling coalition introduced tough austerity measures to secure EU bailout funds. But it failed to secure a majority in Sunday’s general election, leading to fears over whether the country will be able to hit its reform targets.A European Commission spokesperson for economic affairs told reporters on Monday that it hopes and expects to see a stable government in Greece soon.

Hollande to spur economic growth

  Paris, people are lurking hopes that president-elect Francois Hollande will help spur economic growth rather than continue to focusing on austerity.Sunday's election, Hollande took 51.6 percent of the vote in a narrow win over incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy, who garnered 48.4 percent. The win is the first for the Socialists in 17 years since Francois Mitterrand.On Monday, newspapers and magazines were selling special editions featuring Hollande's victory.

A voter in Paris said Hollande, who values rationality and consensus, could help bring changes that are urgently needed.Public attention is focused on economic issues, amid lingering credit concerns in Europe. Some people say that fiscal reconstruction is needed. Political experts  want France, together with the European community as a whole, to end harsh austerity measures and aim for growth.

Hollnade has never served a ministerial post and his diplomatic ability is unknown. Some said Hollande must learn to become a charismatic leader to properly represent France in the international community.
